"Summer Orientation Program"...necessary?

Whatsup everyone

I've been looking around for some concrete info about the first days of school, like when i would need to be on campus, what the dates are, etc. So if anyone has a link or info pls post.

I saw this page: Office of New Student Programs | Incoming Freshmen | Orientation | Fall - University of Michigan which suggests that all students should attend one of the summer orientation programs. Is this important? Thoughts from current students would be awesome.

Orientation is required. They show you around campus (nothing they don’t already show you on tours). But you do pick out your fall schedule, and there are academic advisers who really are helpful in telling you what classes are required for your major, what classes need pre-reqs, etc. You’ll get to meet and hang out with people at night, so it’s pretty fun.

Move-in dates and such would be emailed to you through your Umich email.
