So right now I am a rising sophomore, and I took a four-week writing course at Summer@Brown. I absolutely loved it- not just because of my class, but also because it was so laid back. Three hours of class, then you were off for the rest of the day to do whatever. Curfew was great (11:30 weekdays, 12:30 weekends) and it didn't matter if you left campus. However, next summer while I'm a rising junior, I want to try a new program. I want something similar though- I really loved the laidback, college aspect. It was so easy to make friends, too. I've been looking at the Cornell program because I like the length (I never wanted to leave Brown) and most classes are for six weeks. But, I am conflicted as to whether or not it's as "chill" as brown. My friend went to the Columbia program and didn't really like it. Obviously, I want a good course (particularly writing, hummanities or world politics), but I feel like at these summer programs it is inevitable so I've been focusing more on the outside of the classroom aspects. Also, I'm not the smartest kid around so things like TASP aren't for me. A typical transcript submission/an essay or two is fine for me, but submitting test scores probably wouldn't be to my benefit. Thank you soo much :)
