Summer Prep--Any Ideas?

So, with a month left until school starts, it has occured to me, that although I'm taking at least three AP classes, I don't have any summer homework. I don't want to go in completely clueless.

I'm taking AP English Lang, APUSH, and AP Bio (and maybe AP Calc AB). What homework are you guys required to do over summer as prep? OR do you have any basic ideas for prep?

The only hw I’ve ever had for AP classes is reading (English Lit).

Summer hw is unnecessary IMO. A halfway decent teacher should be able to cover the majority of the material you need to know, and the rest is easily covered on your own. e.g. My USH teacher only covered up to Nixon but I read during Spring Break to cover up to Clinton.

I would just recommend keeping your mind active - read the newspaper, pleasure reading, etc.

If you honestly want to do work… lol Anyways for AP English Lang I would read a book that is thought of as more of a “school” book, for APUSH get the AMSCO (sp?) or the PR book, that’s the one I used and even though everyone swears by AMSCO on here I got a 5 using PR and it’s much less to read, and for AP Bio go on the CB website and look through the topics that will be covered and review the ones your weak in. Have fun. :P

Eng Lang - I just took practice tests and worked on my essay writing. But I also read a lot (especially technical / academic books), so that might have helped.

USH - You could read some history books, I guess. There are a few good non-fiction works out there that make learning history easier than reading a textbook. There should also be works that gather relevant historical documents for you. Reading a few essays by historical figures might also help (Lincoln, Thoreau, the Cross of Gold speech, and the Dred Scott v. Sandford case were a few I read). The US Constitution, particularly the freedom amendments (13, 14, 15), might be a good idea, too.

Never took Bio, not much to do for calc.
