Summer program postponed to next year; do I still go?

Hey everyone,

I had a really helpful summer program where I travel to another country for a couple of weeks. Because of the coronavirus, it’s been postponed to next year’s summer. Everyone goes on this trip are juniors, so high school will be over when that trip actually happens.

I can get a refund if I choose to not go, but many juniors still want to go. If I choose to go next year, would I still be able to put on my college application that I was supposed to be on a summer program this summer but it got postponed to next year?

Thanks y’all and stay safe!

It depends on what the summer program is and your interest in it. If you are interested in the program regardless of the benefits on the college app you should go, but if you are only doing it for the college app it probably isn’t worth it because you might not be able to put that in your application, but if the program you got in is very prestigious or it reflects your passion for a certain major, then I think you could probably work it in your college app.

Sad to hear that happened. I’m also in a similar boat (my summer program got cancelled, I was originally going to go to one of the pre-college programs at Brown), but I recently heard about this virtual summer program, the Summer STEM Institute. It’s the only virtual summer opportunity I’ve heard of, so I thought I would share in case you wanted to go this year since you’re a junior. Hopefully this helps!!! Sorry your trip got cancelled ):
