Wow. Wish I had know about this earlier.

This is an interesting program for Hispanic students at Notre Dame. All expenses are paid including transportation, food, room, and board. I learned a lot and met a lot of people. All who went with me have gotten into Notre Dame if they applied and others have gotten into Stanford, Yale, etc. It's a great program

Latino Community Leadership Seminar // Pre-College Programs University of Notre Dame

there is also an African American Scholars program at Notre Dame and another program geared for all students. They are one week long and underwritten by Notre Dame

I found a nice site that has digest of summer internships for college students, particularly minority ones. I like this list because is isn't just a name with website link. It tells more about the program, where it is located, if housing is provided, and the stipend.

This post gave me some great opportunities for this summer. Although I was already applying to MITES I did not know about the other ones and had been looking for more free ones. Too bad about the Jackson Laboratory at Cornell because application deadline passed. Still some great programs here. Shout out to Entomom for the links.

You're welcome! Best of luck with Mites and the rest, they look like great programs.

Kettering University Academically Interested Minorities (AIM) program: for rising srs interested in engineering; 5 weeks long:

Academically Interested Minorities - AIM - Kettering University

The Upward Bound programs are federally funded through many universities. There are the local programs that exist all year long and their are also regional programs for the summer.

If you Google Upward Bound Math and Science Regonal Centers quite a few should pop up. There is one at Embry-Riddle in Prescott AZ, another in Knoxville, and others depending on who applied for funding in the 3 to 5 year cycle. It falls under the TRIO umbrella for funding.

Preference is given to URMs OR first-generation OR low-income.

Thanks kat!

I think I'll look into some of these. Thanks for sharing.

The STARS program is available to teachers and students in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Housing is not provided; you need to be able to commute every day to UT Southwestern (next to Parkland Hospital in Dallas).

My daughter really enjoyed the program this past summer.

YESS at Caltech no longer exists. My S wanted to apply for the summer of 2011 but the campus hosted the LEAD program instead.

^Thanks, I will update that in the OP.

Entomon-thanks so much for adding that Latino law camp. I just had a Latino sophomore ask me yesterday if I knew any Latino law camps so your post is very timely. Thank you.

DD went to the LEAD Computer Science Institute this past summer. It is being held in place of YESS. Google is sponsoring the stidents.

^The Law camp tip came from another helpful member who’s child attended and had an excellent experience.
