I looked for some around New York City.

This is the search page to look for opportunities with NASA. They have a location in NYC at Goddard Institute for Space Studies. You would need to commute each day.
https://intern.nasa.gov/ossi/web/public/guest/searchOpps/

For example: I plugged in Goddard and completed 12th grade. Several opportunities came up - 4 for climate change and one for building and designing a robot.

Depending on where you have relatives you could stay with, you can check the other locations.

These are specifically for Hispanic students, and they are great programs that usually translate to a college acceptance in the fall or spring. They are free and transportation is free, too.
Just do a quick google search.

The Summer Science Seminars began in 1995 to provide a challenging experience for students interested in careers in the sciences. The intensive five-day program, funded by Luther College, is designed to provide students with hands-on experiences. Students will work with professors and college students on real research projects in laboratories and participate in meaningful class discussions.

Students in the Teacher Education Seminar will be provided with opportunities to explore ways to teach in K-12 schools that go beyond textbooks and written tests. Professors and current students in the Luther education program will collaborate with participants in developing teaching methods that will enhance learning.

Application cycle is beginning for a couple of study abroad programs:

Sea Education Association applications are open - one is land based and one is on their research vessel. They will be reviewed in batches starting in January. I highly recommend them. My daughter did their shipboard program and it was wonderful. They have financial aid available.
