So I just sent the first set of emails to profs at local universities hoping they'd let me do research with them. It took me like half an hour to get the courage to click... I know that sounds really pathetic but I'm so afraid they'll send an angry email back telling me I'm not worthy of stepping into their lab or something.

Anywayyyyz, is anyone else researching for the summer?? Or in the process of trying to find a professor?

good luck!!! who knows, maybe you'll get multiple offers and have to turn down a professor or two!

Thanks, Poseur!!

So I got a reply saying this:

"I would be happy to talk with you about a couple potential projects."

I'm not sure how I should prepare for the talk... should I just do some research about her project? I'm paranoid because I'm definitely not well-versed in the physics of granular materials. =]

ooh congratulations! they don't expect you to know much, just look up whatever's on his website and come into the meeting with a bright smile on your face. the key is to be in a curious mood and ask a lot of questions.

Wow OP maybe you'll be able to talk to girls within the decade =D
Making progress, yay!
Anyway don't do research you aren't 100% into otherwise you'll end up contemplating suicide or murder
