Why does SSP cost so much money? 3,850+ for a program that is really prestigious, and from what I see, almost on par with RSI?

Does the mail have to be postmarked by the 15th, or arrive on the 15th?

They are very generous with financial aid. However, if you can afford it, they would prefer that you pay because the overall program costs at least $5000 per student.

i answered mine as one compact essay, and i didnt answer all the questions. i dont think it really matters – i think they leave it open ended on purpose.

SSP is run purely off of alumni donations. Six weeks of food, housing, paying the professors and the TAs, the weekly trips to cool places… All of this costs much more than 3,850. I vaguely remember the alumni newsletter listing a number around 6 to 7 thousand dollars per person.

Of course, at the same time, if your family has any difficulties whatsoever, SSP is very generous with its financial aid. I remember SSP gave me two hundred dollars more than I requested, reimbursed my plane ticket, AND offered me a free TI-89.

Why can’t the online part of the application be accessed today??? The application says that we can “log back in later (before the deadline) to change or add information.” I thought we had THROUGH the 15th (today) to complete everything?

Yeah, I received mine, but I had sent in my application overnight mail about two weeks ago. They say they review the applications once a week and they get a lot around now (deadline time), so don’t worry if you haven’t gotten a confirmation yet. That being said, I hadn’t gotten a confirmation more than a week after sending mine in and I even got an email asking me if I was still planning on applying, so I emailed them and told them I had already sent in my application and that I hoped it wasn’t lost in the mail. They emailed me back promptly saying that they had my application, but couldn’t find my PSAT scores, which were actually there, just kind of hidden.
