Summer Science Program (SSP) 2014

@emywemy610 I feel like I may be too chill, haha. I just feel like SSP is great and I would love to get accepted, but my life won’t be ruined if I don’t get in. I wonder if SSP will heavily influence the college application process; probably not.
@Nobody426 I have 6 AP’s this year and will be taking 5 AP exams( because I don’t trust myself enough to take the Euro History exam lol). Calculus BC, Physics Mech, and Chemistry will all be the death of me. :o I am going on a badly timed orchestra trip to the beach tomorrow for 4 days and will have to make up 2 tests(AP Cal and APUSH), 3 quizzes, and tons of homework/projects. :frowning: Grading period also ends next week. Someone just kill me now, lol.
As for AP exams and SAT literature, physics, and chemistry, I still need to start studying for those…

@Nobody426‌ We actually have a pretty nice curve in AP chem, but only very few people get A+(people with Astill get 4 or 5s). So that says something itself. AP chem is notoriously the hardest class in my school, along with AP euro… sometimes I’m just glad that the year is almost over but I’m also worried about my summer plans and AP exams…

@Nobody426 Sure thing! Do you want me to PM my QQ to you?

I’ve been lacking sleep for the past month and is utterly confused in Calculus right now. :frowning: We are studying infinite series, vectors, and polar graphs/coordinates right now. After the trip, I will probably be home at around 8-9 PM on Sunday and will have to take the test on Monday… :frowning:

@fairyfantasy‌ Don’t worry about calc BC  I actually think that’s the easiest exam to get a 5 on. You should check out the statistics from the past years. Half of the people who took the exam got a 5. You have me with you on AP physics C though… I took physics B class and exam last year so I didn’t feel the need to take the C class this year since it’s the same teacher. Now it’s only a month away from the exam and I don’t remember anything from calculus or physics :(

@fairyfantasy‌ Ugh I wanted to take Physics and Chinese APs, but I literally live in the middle of nowhere and I need to drive 2 hours to the nearest test center available for those tests… Not doable, since I have other AP tests on the same day that I have to take in school.

German AP is going to kill me, actually, and I’ve more or less given up on it. I simply don’t know how to study for that one–there’s no prep books out there, or online resource, or anything. My teacher’s literally too busy for any of us and I’m just doomed to fail. Bio AP’s my only hope, but with that 5% of 5s curve last year… Things are not looking really good. Sorry for the complaint (I know you guys probably really don’t want to hear about this) but I’m just so frustrated by everything right now. I just don’t know how in the world am I going to survive till the end of the school year with my sanity in tact. sigh Sorry about this again.

Well, everyone hang in here! I feel like no matter what, we should all keep contact with each other since you are all wonderful, amazing, and accomplished people with big dreams and even bigger goals. Excuse my sentimentality but you all resonates with me so well.

How incredibly anticlimactic.

Are we still expecting the application decisions tonight?

@QQwang2015‌ I get you. AP chem’s one of the most difficult classes, but since the format’s changing this year (for the easier), the teaching changed too and now it’s like moderate difficulty. Calc BC is the hardest in my school–my teacher has a knack of getting everyone a 5 by the end of the course. My GPA’s crying for help, though.

@fairyfantasy‌ Sure! Although I really mean it when I said I need to dig around for my account’s info… Hahaha maybe I’ll just make a new one!

@QQwang2015 Perhaps I am just a weird Asian, but I personally think AP Language and Compositions exam will be the easiest for me, lol. I’ve been getting 5’s on all the practice tests.
I know that over 50% of the test-takers get on Cal BC, but I find that not very assuring considering only smart people in general take Cal BC. :o

@Nobody246 I know pretty much everything about electrochemistry really well, but I had a brain fart during the test :/
@fairyfantasy‌ That’s how I am too, but I hate not knowing, I just want to know.

The webmaster for summerscience.org is probably reading this and laughing as we speak.

@fairyfantasy‌ my friend is the same  she’s struggling in ap calc but doing really well in AP language. People just have different gifts, if this is not what you are good at, not getting a 5 doesn’t hurt you anything. Just try your best. The odds of getting a 5 on BC are still pretty high.

Oh yea…this is both my AP Cal BC and AP Chem teachers’ first year teaching these 2 classes…T_T

I’m actually dual enrolling for my calculus right now

@Nobody426‌ The calc teacher in my school is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had in my life. He just made everything so much easier and clearer for us. I’m usually a pretty good math student, but very lazy at times. But since I enjoyed him so much:) I worked really hard for it. His test was still harder than the real AP, but my school doesn’t offer an individual BC class. It is an AB class with some BC students in it if we want to do it. So I did BC last year, and I guess the class wasn’t as hard as you guys are experiencing since it was still mostly for AB students? AP chem isn’t exactly killing my GPA…but it definitely took my chance of getting valedictorian away from me :(

@QQwang2015‌ My Calc teacher’s fantastic too, she’d been at it for about 20 years and she knows what she’s doing, aside from being a very nice person also. It’s just that she gives up genuine challenges that goes above and beyond what’s tested on the AP test (which is a good thing, I guess) and I’m just struggling in the class quite a big. I got an A (the hardest one I’ve ever earned) last semester, but I just got my test back for taylor polynomials and it completely crushed me earlier today… I’m quite lost with myself now. I’m definitely willing to fight tooth and nail for my valedictorian status. I just need better time management…

@Nobody426‌ Good luck on your way to valedictorian. Time management is probably the solution to our problems for now. I’m going to do my philosophy homework while anxiously waiting for the results now. Hope philosophers can calm me down :0

@QQwang2015‌ Thanks! :slight_smile: I’ll go write a paper on Macbeth now…

Everyone takes a big breath! We’ll go through this together.

@Nobody426‌ Good luck on your Macbeth paper! I have to write a paper (or rather an “inquiry”) tonight and the struggle is real. Every time I try and begin it, I keep thinking that SSP decisions are out and it’s time to check!

wow I went to eat dinner and came back to like 30 notifications…
