admitted, CT!

I’m at the CA campus

I’m on NM campus! Anyone else going? :)

I have no idea how the waitlist works. However, reading previous years accounts, I think there’s some kind of order. Also, if it really is 7-10 people that make it, all the better for us!

@janedoeee11 here’s my source for the 5 people that got in last year: <a href=“Summer Science Program (SSP) 2013 - #391 by Aischylos - Summer Programs - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/1412009-summer-science-program-ssp-2013-p27.html It’s about the third one down

@Holocaust I’m wondering about the financial aid as well…

I was admitted to the NM campus. I am still debating whether to go the SSP or attend PROMYS as a second year student, but I’ll probably go to SSP. Other admitted people should join the official facebook group!

@Holocaust @QQwang2015 My parents’ income is around $85k and my net cost (NOT including my plane ticket) was around $1,900.

Kinda curious how many people admitted are USAMO/USAPhO qualifiers? Or with other major science math achievements?

@RAF1940 how much aid did you ask for? If you’d asked for more, do you think you would’ve gotten more?

Hey guys! I’m an international applicant and get admitted to NM campus. FYI, I was picked from waitlist! So there’s really a chance for waitlist. Don’t lose heart. Good luck!

@Holocaust I just requested as much aid as they’d give me. My parents said that we could make the $1,900 work, so I really don’t know if I would’ve gotten more if I’d asked for it. I do know that SSP has many generous alumni, so I’d say there’s definitely a chance of getting more aid.

Hey guys, I was just wondering how informal we can be when we email Mr. Bowdon (if any alumni here know)?

Come on and join the FB group, NM guys!

So, they said financial aid applications are due 3 days after you receive your acceptance. Are they super-strict about that? That would mean it’s due today, Sunday. And nothing should ever be due on a Sunday. It’s the day of our lord and savior Jesus Christ.

hi everyone! i hav a question. just got accepted to the NM campus [idk if i’ll go but yay!], but is this SSP the “prestigious” SSP everyone’s talking about? (so 10% admittance rate is a selective one right?)

i just got confused with the other SSP’s out there, like the jackson and harvard ones…

@STEMftw If by the “prestigious one” you mean the one with a 10% acceptance rate, then yes, it is.

@STEMftw How can you not know what it is but still applied to it?

@ProximaCentauri haha I definitely know what this program is in terms of its structure and heavy focus on high level astronomy. have been waiting since freshman year to apply.

i just didn’t realize this program was deemed prestigious by people on college confidential until a few days ago.

@STEMftw haha alright, I understand you! The other SSP is probably the normal summer school of Harvard’s?
