Also admitted. Congrats to those who are also admitted. Are there any Facebook groups for admitted SSP`14? If so, can you send me the link so that I can join?

@entropy01 same question. I think SSP might open an official group for us but it has to wait for our decisions as some might choose not to enroll. So maybe a week later the group will come out?

@entropy01 oh yeah, which camp are you in?

I’m going to the CA campus, what about you @ProximaCentauri?

Are we really not allowed to bring our personal computers?

@entropy01 NM. There are no NMs except me on CC now! Hope someone would appear. Well I was thinking about computers too but really they aren’t that useful in SSP probably. There will be computer labs and on the program description they say they just want more intrapersonal contact which I think makes a lot of sense.

How does attending SSP contribute to the college application?

@entropy01
It is surely a prestigious program so the admission committee would know it. You could see from the admission results of past SSPers. But we’d get much more from SSP than just helping our college app.
For one thing, to meet many life-time friends, many of whom might become very successful people in the future.
The alumni meeting each year sounds like a wonderful place to socialize and meet people as well.
So really looking forward to it!
BTW, where are you from?

I totally agree with you. The alumni meeting sounds really good. I am from Turkey! Where are you from?

China! But my educational experience is quite unique as I was in Canada from age 3 to 8.
Oh yeah, have you confirmed your enrollment?
Hoping that more people bubble up in this thread.

Yes, I did confirm. I guess we will have to wait for SSP to create Facebook groups for meeting the rest of us.

Has Mr.Bowdon sent any emails to any of you guys? @entropy01 @LAWithANakedLady
Maybe because its the weekend so I’m getting no reply
Wonder when the application letter Email will come too

Did you guys apply for financial aid? Are they giving you a chance to apply for financial aid now that you’re accepted?

Nope, internationals cannot apply for FA after getting admitted(I just found out) but domestics can. So yes to you.

@ProximaCentauri I received my decision letter from Mr. Bowdon right after the decisions were out on Thursday.

@entropy01 Yeah, that one I got.
Just waiting for another email that would contain materials for VISA application

@entropy01 SSP '13 alum here. You really aren’t allowed to bring a personal computer. One of the students that was at my campus was coming from somewhere besides home so she had her computer with her, and they kept it in a room in the dorm until the end of the program (if I remember correctly). At the same time, you really don’t need it. You’re going to be spending a LOT of time in the computer lab anyway.

Also, congratulations on your acceptances! It truly is a life-changing experience. I’m open to any questions you may have.

now for the domestic admissions…

@weiyourenma

As someone who was there, you seem like a very strong candidate! However, the acceptance rate is less than 10% (I calculated for last year and it was 9.7%), so I can’t be very sure of anything. It’s probably going to come down to the essays, as I’m sure any admissions process with such a low acceptance rate does.
