Hi everybody!
I really want to know about my chance to get admitted, since my critical reading score on the SAT is 450, and my writing is 420.
My math score is 770. English is my second language and I just have a year and a half “speaking English”. I’m from Mexico, but I moved to Chicago last year.
Some of the important things about me (that I included in my application)
In Mexico, I almost went to the International Mathematics Olympiad.
The next spring break, I’m going to Burkina Faso (a country in Africa) to build a school in a developing community.
All my teachers always tell me that I have a really good opportunity, but I feel weak because of my English (BDW, my GPA is 4.0 and I’m taking 5 APs this year, including AP English Language)
Basically my question is this, does the fact that English is my second language justified my low scores? would they considere this against me?
One last question, I just got my ACT scores from February: 17 in English, 30 in Math, 20 in Reading, 24 in Science, 23 Composite, 8 in the Essay, and 18 in English/Essay. Would it be a good idea to send these scores?
@lusifer12 I just got here and I never realized that there even was a 2015 forum, but I dont think that poor English scores will matter too much. Just stress your ability in math and you should be good to go!
So I withdrew my app last week because I just realised how tight my schedule will be in June and July, virtually making it impossible for me to go to SSP, if at all I were to be accepted. Best of luck to everybody on this thread! I hope y’all get in.
Even if you do not get into SSP, I hope you have a great summer.
Even thought i sent my application through USPS Priority Mail Express 2-Day on Monday, the tracking says that it has not yet arrived at it’s destination… do you think that they would throw out my app b/c of this?
I am assuming that other applicants may have had problems this week due to the storms, closed airports, delayed flights, etc. You have a receipt showing that it was mailed on Monday? Maybe you should send them a copy with an explanatory email.
hello all! finally decided to comment…lol
do you know if they try to diversify those accepted based on region?
Also, any other girls here??
Although for the first yes I don’t have solid proof.
@musicpen I guess they receive applications from all over the country/globe so they wouldn’t have to intentionally try to diversify the acceptances? And yes.
So which campus do you guys think will be more popular this year? Since it’s never been held at Colorado, I’m guessing many people put UC as their first choice?
wow everybody’s awfully quiet this week. 3rd quarter slump?
@leoursa i did both
I have “Admitted” on the website. Does this mean I’m admitted?
WHAT HOW DO YOU HAVE THE RESULTS SO FAST
@fusioneer98 are you an international applicant
But I still haven’t received any email
ohhhh congratulations man! I hope you have fun there!
Thanks but I can’t be sure until I get the confirmation email Just waiting now
Wow! Congratulations @fusioneer98 !!! Do you know how long it took between them receiving all your application forms and uploading your status?
@leoursa
Thanks! Mine took roughly two days. It was fairly quick but it may be due to number of incoming application. I’m sure that there are a lot more US applicants than international applicants.
@fusioneer98 I’m not even admitted but so excited! This waiting process is killing me. Could you post a screenshot of what the site says? There was a fake one on college confidential last year, so I’m just a little skeptical
