Summer Science Program (SSP)

... or princeton...because someone already mentioned MIT:P

or yale.. because it looks like it's more likely to be true ;)

yeah, yale doesn't take many romanians.. i know of only one... in the last 10 years :(

Um koreans are no longer a minority or something.

Too many of them work so hard that they are pretty much geniuses.

everybody knows indians are the best. duh. We are ballers and crazy smart. lol. We ball it up like crazy.
Thats why colleges don't want anymore indians. We too gangster and smart for them lol.

hey, i went to ssp last year (ojai). it was amazing but i noticed you guys were talking about where people get in to college after ssp. heres are almost complete list for the ojai campus. ssp2007 wiki / College Acceptances

its pretty amazing. also, if you have any questions about ssp, i'll definitely answer them

A-card, indians are one of the stupidest species around and infamous for deluding themselves into thinking that they're smarter than the rest of the world. Your average indian is an incompetent bumbling idiot who is only good for memorizing textbooks and solving math problems that fit into the format "a=2 b=3 what is a+b". Seriously. The only place you get smart Indians is maybe IIT, but hey, the top US tech colleges - MIT, Caltech - still own us there. Plus the average indian is COMPLETELY insensitive to rhetoric. I mean COMPLETELY. I mean it's almost on the point of retardation.

The only reason Indians may have a positive reputation in the US is that when you combine our competitive drive with an education that allows you to THINK then you get a pretty deadly combination. Even so, I'm pretty sure the chinese or the japanese own us there. Plus, they look better. Indians are quite ugly on average.

No, I'm sorry, I'm just not the most patriotic person around...

Haha, I am now Junior Member! I've advanced from New Member! This is an indication that I need to get a life!

yo lethal i totally agree with you. I am one of the least indian people around and yeah i get really ****ed off at most (not all) indians i meet. I was just joking in the post above. I am not at all fond of the india culture. thats just my op.

lol lethal, i wonder if that applies to other asians as well...

altho a lot of the indians i know are really smart tho..like not in ur "a + b" sense

why is the ojai facebook group almost 3 times as big as the socorro facebook group. This is gettin ridiculous. We need more socorrians, if thats a word, which it is not.

because ojai is 10248102947102947102974x better

sigh May SAT over. I did not know I could eat chocolate that fast. Now it's sleepy time.

Narcissa, I don't suppose you mean Indians who are studying in an Indian school? Because that's pretty rare. I am not exaggerating when i say our boards are a veritable mug-a-thon. In fact I'm not even sure Americans know what we mean when we say 'mug'; urban dictionary certainly doesn't list my understanding of the word. It's such a common concept here; 'to mug' means to rote memorize without a trace of understanding.

Other terminology you here a lot in Indian schools: mugpot = one who mugs. Fart = To pour out every obscure fact that comes to your mind onto the paper, regardless of the question. The farting exam, based on what people from indian boards say when they come to my school (we do an international board - the IB) is usually the economics exam. Hmm...I can't think of anything else now, haven't been in a typical Indian school since fourth grade. I do however know that the English exam for the end of 10th grade consits of memorizing Julius Caesar. Possible questions could be "You shall not come to them" - who said this to whom? What happens next? Which line number? (Ok, maybe a little exaggerated, but still). Indian 10th grade Lit students are familiar with 3 figures of speech: simile, metaphor, personification. Their idea of appreciation of text is paraphrasing. Ok, maybe I'm being a little harsh, there are certainly some very capable literature students in my school who've spent their former years in the typical boards.

They just aren't very common.

lol. sleepy time after SAT for me too.

Btw, Do you think it's perfectly ok to leave SSp 1 day before??? On August 1ts in Ojai

I think they'll let you, but you will miss a lot of good memories, because they tend to happen in the last couple days..

Unless you have a really excellent reason for leaving early, I wouldn't recommend it, and probably Mr. Bowdon or the academic staff would strongly discourage it. Basically, you turn in your OD Wednesday night (or in a few cases, at 3am on Thursday morning), have some sort of field trip all day Thursday, spend Friday cleaning and packing and writing evaluations, have the big closing ceremony thing (and they're very peckish about the formality), and then have lots of fun that night. Six weeks is probably longer than you think it is, and you become pretty close to everyone there. Certainly the final 48 hours or so were some of the most enjoyable, and I can't think of anyone possibly wanting to leave early. You probably have a perfectly good reason, but it would also probably require shelling out a lot of money for a taxi to get to the airport.

hm... what evaluations?

Man... I really DON'T want to leave early... =/

But... i got this drum major camp August 2nd-6th in Mass., which I must attend.... =/

I want to attend the ending ceremony!! Any suggestions?

strange idea, but maybe you can find a socorro person to switch campuses with? with permission from the ssp staff, of course.

soroccoo would pose an even bigger problem since I'll miss 5 days of school and other stuff....

Guess i'll contact the Drum major camp and ask if I can come august 3rd. lol
