Summer Science Program (SSP)

I love everything about it.

Except the alarm ringing at six.

i think i would be able to squeeze at least 4 hours more of sleep out of that<--- probably i won't once i'm there, but...

haha you definately can- a couple of my friends slept pretty early...

and it was my alarm clock so um.. that's just me being weird.

whats a week end like?
I prolly wont sleep early. lol.
BTW i still have not gotten finanical aid info. I am prolly expecting none even though my dad asked for like $3500. Its the indian in him. Our race tends to be naturally a little more stingy lol.

haha. Asians always want the money. =)

That schedule sounds like it's really fun.

okay, i found a reason why I am not going.
4 hours of sleep
are you kidding me?!
I dont think I've ever had less than 5 hours of sleep...

^ Yeah I know, that's why I didn't even apply to this program.

But I guess it's what you'd expect for a program based on astronomy, lol.

Lol-
It's really not that bad, you can get by with much more sleep than I got. I'm one of those people who during the school year, will get little sleep for just about no reason. One of my close friends at camp would go to sleep every night at midnight, no matter what. He was one of the most academically successful, and I wouldn't say that he got any less from the program than anyone else. SSP really is an unique experience that is what you make of it. It's perfectly possible for you to get 9 hours of sleep each night if you get your assignments done on time and wouldn't rather play poker.

Oh and in the beginning of camp when you choose your asteroid, you can choose your observing block... 9-11, 11-1, or 1-3... AND you only observe once every 4 nights or so. At least that's how it was for us. You guys might be doing near-earth asteroids, so it could be very different.

classof09--We're the same. I can have no homework and still sleep at 1 AM :/

:) Well right now, I'm telling myself that I'm finishing off my last camp applications (writing camp, anyone?) while trying to convince myself that I'm really studying for APs. I already "scheduled" my hw time tomorrow. I'll do chem homework in physics and study for econ before school, write the english hw during chem, and finish my bio lab during history. I'm crafty ;)

aren't u going to njgss?

Which writing camp? ;)

Oh my gosh, you are efficient at school! I'm usually too much of a coward to leave anything for school T_T;

Yeah NJGSS, but it doesn't start until mid-July. I have my time before then. :)

I'm the ultimate procrastinator.

psh i dont do schoolwork, how's that for efficiency

dont believe me? check my post count ^^

Lol, but you surely save some time forgoing capitalization!

Is it weird to not drink coffee/take naps staying up really late? I'm surprised at my friends' lack of stamina. Or maybe I'm just too used to this.

I don't drink coffee, except when I'm on a trip and I feel extraspecial or something, and I'll take naps only when I have a blistering headache...

Gah! I will be overwhelmed with lecture material! I guess this is what they meant by drinking from a firehose, eh? Ok..........................MAY SAT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

i was looking online at ssp people from years before and what colleges they get accepted to. Dang in one campus almost half the kids got into cal tech. I guess ssp has great connections with cal tech or somethin. I sure this is more of a correlation thingy and not causation but still.

i hope the other half this year would go to MIT...

or harvard :D
