Summer session class can put your admittance in jeopardy?

Just wondering if we got it right.
My S was admitted to the UC Berkeley like all of transfers with some conditions. On application he never mentioned about planned classes during summer. He is fine with IGETC credits and has over 60 credits already. He wanted to take classes for American Culture and some other one. They are just his own decision. Why then if he takes the classes they falling under conditional GPA 3.0? What if he gets "C" or withdraw for some reasons? His admission can be cancelled? Kind of strange.

He “never mentioned about planned classes during summer”? Did he decide to take them just now and did he inform Berkeley?
If the conditional agreement states that a 3.0 must be maintained all terms, I believe this includes summer (you should ask your son’s assigned admission officer this question, though). Getting a W would probably be fine, as it won’t affect his GPA, but I don’t know about Cs… His admission could very well be canceled (but ask an admissions officer to make sure).

my conditions of admission says not to get anything below a C, but to maintain a 3.0 for this spring.

also, it doesnt say that we can’t take summer classes…only that we must first speak to our admissions advisor if we plan on doing so first.

congrats to your son, tell him if he wishes to attend berkeley, go into this summer class as if life depends on it, lose your chance with berkeley is a tough pain, possibly regret for the rest of life.
