I was speaking with my counselor last Tuesday and we were discussing the application process. I am at 55 units including WIP. On my way home he called me and said that some UC's, such as UCD, do not accept summer units at all and will throw you out for junior transfer, even if they arent even pre reqs. Have you guys heard this as well?

Wow no there's no truth to that what school do u go to?

You must have 60 units by the end of spring (the spring semester before you transfer). You can not use summer as a way to get the required 60 units.

what AwakenZero said is mostly true.

In rare cases they may allow an exception.

Register for late start online courses and get the extra five units in.

To add some transparency:

Yes, your summer units count for credit to transfer (i.e. summer of '08, summer of '07, etc).

No 99% of the time, they do not count for transferring for fall of '09 if you plan on taking 5 units during summer of '09 to make up the 60 units.

Spring of '09 is the last term during which your units can be applied to the MINIMUM 60 units needed to transfer.

try and find like 5 units of classes if you're set on transferring this year then try finding some late start classes. Even PE classes can be used just grab whatever is free and doable with your schedule if transferring this year is a priority.

I originally thought you were speaking of summer terms in general, not the one prior to transfer.
