I'm an incoming freshman and intended ib/psych. i decided this over break so i could only end up taking chem 1a.

currently i'm in chem 1a, 2 breadth courses and an R&C. Last semester, i only took 1 ib prereq (math 16a) and 1 psych prereq (but i have most of the prereqs done through ap anyways).

so to catch up, i want to take bio 1b/l over the summer. but i was thinking of adding chem 3a/l as well? i'm not really sure how hard summer classes are and all so... opinions?

I took Chem 1A and Chem 3A over the summer (yes i took both concurrently)! So I guess I can talk somewhat authoritatively about summer school.

Bio 1B will be time consuming by itself. It has a lab component to it but since its summer school, labs will be meeting twice a week. So if you can, just take a 1 or 2 unit class with Bio 1B OR alternatively, take a non-science class. Perhaps, an easy breathe class?

Besides, I dont recommend taking Chem 3A because of Dr Li, the professor who will be teaching the class this summer. She was my Chem 1A professor and my thoughts about her: AVOID HER IF YOU CAN. You are better off waiting until Fall for Chem 3A because of Dr Pedersen. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Dr Pedersen. HE IS THAT AWESOME that he gets a standing ovation on his last lecture class… But if you are looking for a painful summer, then go ahead and take Chem 3A on top of Bio 1B.

I agree. Pedersen’s one of the best long term Chem 3A professors. I say long term because BERTOZZI IS TEACHING THIS SEM’S CHEM 3A asdfghjkl; I don’t regret taking it with Pedersen last semester because I managed to learn the material and do well, but it’s Bertozzi. Bertozzi!!
