Summmmmer C

hey guys
so im a future nole and simply cant wait :)
i have a fewww questions about summmer c??

thats when i am starting. But i wasnt sure what dorms were good for summer. I WANT TO DO MY APPLICATION FOR SUMMER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SOO...any ideas for dorms that are good for summer and for undergraduates..social dorms but not to any extreme. Please let me know.

Also, Previous or current students :

my friend is reading this book on college and its kidna scaring me because of random rooming. Which is most likely what i am going to end up doing? Im afraid of my privacy being invaded, items stolen..any thoughts will be greatly appreciated :)

Finally, i choose landis and Gilchrist which are honor dorms but im not doing the honors program...is it ok? If they are part of my choices for the fall?

Thanks in advance :)

A bad roommate can be a horrible experience. My son was matched up with another guy who worked out just great. They get along fine even though they never met before FSU. You don't have to be best friends, just able to work out differences and treat each other with respect and consideration.

Gilchrist is not honors anymore so you should be able to live there even if you are not in honors. Any of the summer dorms except Salley, Dorman and Deviney are in good condition. My son lives in Deviney and it has worked out fine for him and free for me (with FL prepaid dorm) but the newly renovated dorms are definitely nicer.

Here are the list of available summer dorms:
http://www.housing.fsu.edu/housing/ungrad/summerhalls.html

I don't know, I heard kellum was pretty good. I'm going to take whatever is available, I applied late so I' sure there's limited room. I'll be lucky to get anything at all.

Try for an east-side dorm if possible. While these are the older buildings, all have been renovated recently. You must buy a meal plan to live in one, however.

Two new dorms are opening - DeGraff and Wildwood. Both are completely new.

for summer i picked salley Deviney Gilchrist and cawthon? Any good?
also, i was going to randomly room but im a lil nervous about the whole things. Im not like party crazy like all the time and i need my personal space. Thanks :)

Gilchrist and Cawthon are newer suite style dorms on the east side. Salley is an old style suite dorm on the west side near the Fresh Food Company. Deviney is an older hall dorm on the east side.

My son started in the Fall and the way it worked was they sent him the name, phone number and address of his roommate ahead of time. They were able to contact each other so they could see if they would be compatible and also work out who would bring what. For example, we bought a new room carpet that the school offers to have waiting in your room before move-in and the roommate brought a TV and microwave. I think if you discuss your expectations ahead of time, you can work out a living arrangement that will be comfortable for both of you.

I'm pretty sure Cawthon is for music-majors only...though I may be wrong.

For Summer FTIC can live in:
Broward, Bryan, Cawthon, Gilchrist, Jennie Murphree (coed for summer), Reynolds, Salley, Deviney or Dorman.

In the FALL, Cawthon is for the Teacher, Women in Math, Science and Engineering (WIMSE) and Music Learning Communities.
