Sunday at the Square

I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences.

1540 SAT
about a 780 average on SAT II tests

National Merit Finalist, SIemens Westinghouse Semifinalist and some other science stuff

pretty good essays and great recs

Baobab, where on LI are you?

Jwblue, Any idea if the Sunday in the Square invite is a likely indicator of a merit aid offer?

Well the invite is a likely, more like certain indicator of acceptance. Since its the very top of the applicant pool that gets these invites, its reasonable to assume some merit aid will be involved.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Seems reasonable to me, too.

Yep, NYU gives out merit scholarhships mostly to those who are superstars...it would seem those who get invites to this are likely to be such.

I just got one today.. =] I live in NJ and applied to College of Arts and Science.
I never knew NYU sent out these letters before april. Well, it actually looks more like a card invitation, so just looking at the envelope, i thought it was one of those generic invitations to their open house.
But it said the meeting will be held on April 3rd, which is after the decisions come out, so i was like woahh could this be a likely? and now that I've confirmed it, I'm one happy woman! :D

Can we have your stats shorty777?

lol, how soon until these things leave the Northeast!

Has anyone from as far off as Texas gotten an invite to this thing?

I live pretty much in the center of Long Island.

I'm guessing either tomorrow or Thursday for the Midwest, definately the end of the week for the entire country, although with the Postal Service you never know.

I know I'll be crossing my fingers: 35 ACT, 1/220, above 700 on my 3 SAT IIs (writing, math IIc, american history), and from my view personal material (lots of political stuff). So I'm hoping that NYU needs one more Cheesehead.

Here's my stats copied from Dartmouth board.

1550/800/750/740 (bio,mathIIc,writing)
4.59 Weighted GPA
3/127
Bio Major
Asian(permanent resident), NJ

EC: play three instruments (trombone, piano, and clarinet), ALOT of activities related to music, Varisty Tennis, leadership organizations, NHS-VP, NYU Pre-college Program, hospital volunteer, Academic Decathlon, etc. etc. (I sent in a separate resume.)

essay: I can't really judge my own writing, but my english teacher said it was very personal.
recs: good (one outstanding letter from my GC)

I wish everyone the best of luck!

I got one too! im soo excited! are you sure its equal to a likely letter because the letter seemed like just a invitation to see the campus..

What are your states oOo?
- and yes, these are invitations to Sunday at the Square. Basically, you are a likely admit.

But are you guys all CAS or Stern? Am I the only one who applied to Steinhardt...?

stats? SAT m 780 v. 720 gpa 4.3 rank 8/189, and i'm for college of arts and sciences

oh and by the way i live in los angeles, california

Just got one, live in NJ, applied to Steinhardt for Music Business.

Stats:

Too lazy to list EC's in detail, nothing very spectacular though. I suck balls at track & cross country, but i did em for three years...chaired Battle of the Bands...blah blah

Good Luck Everyone

Wow... I'm from NJ too, and I applied to Steinhardt Mus Bus...

My stats are just under yours
good ECs

but i didn't get my mail yet...
so whats the story? if i don't see anything in the mail today, i'm just gonna end up waiting until the end of the month?

i got one too!!
4.0/1500+/700+ on all SATIIs/Leadership blahblah
Asian

yeah, any clue if this means they will give me mula?

im assuming that this is likely right? i mean the weekend is for after April 1st, and the invitation says "for outstanding students IN the entering class of 2005" not prospectives.
But, will they hate me for not coming?
