Sunday at the Square

whoa, if everyone invited went, and they bring along a guest or two, tisch hall would have to be pretty huge...

Does anyone know how long the sunday at the square thing is supposed to last? is it a whole day thing or is it only early morning/afternoon?

lol. i heard somewhere that the top 20% of the class gets stern scholar? or maybe 10-15 percent, cuz there's like 120 kids who are scholars or something like that.

moose, it's mostly a morning thing, but it can extend into the afternoon a little, with tours and stuff like that

Total size of Stern undergrad. school is 2100 students, so perhaps 500 freshmen each year? The avg. SAT is 1412, and the avg. GPA is 3.74.
afaforce, are you saying that there is a total of 120 Stern Scholars each freshman year, or 120 in the entire Stern undergrad. program??
120 each year makes for a 25% rate of merit awards.
Anyhow, I hear that some of the awards can be quite crappy. Anyone care to guess what Stern Scholars get offered?
Annual tuition is $30430, and then R&B is $13,000.

i got 20k , i beleive its anywhere from 1000-25000

wait who gets invited to this? I applied to Stern and have not yet received one. But my SAT is 1450 and GPA is 94, does it only go out to the elite of the elite?

Matt....but your $20,000 is a financial aid thing, and not a merit award, no? I don't believe they have announced Stern Scholar Merit $$ yet??

Like I said before, kids, NYU gives out a total of 400 merit awards annually. Total, as in all NYU colleges. Approximately top 10%. There's no way that everyone who received an invite is going to be a Stern scholar. Unless, of course, they include everyone who gets a merit award as a Stern scholar. Keep in mind the merit awards, again, like I already said, range from $1000 to $25,000. The big ones are few and far between. Most people get a few thousand, that's it. There's no way that all of you are going to get those big scholarships. It just doesn't happen.

No one has yet mentioned the School of Social Work.

Does anyone have any idea if Ehrenkranz gives out these invitations? (Sunday at the Square)

BoP, I'm curious about the Alabama sucks comment. I know it's not Ivy league nor a top private, but I understand the honors program is good.

are there any people who applied to tisch for production?
if so, what other schools did you apply to?

i would probably post that as its own topic because this is about sunday at the square and i dont even think tisch was involved in this! more people will respond if you make it a topic. :)

Hmm.. I didn't get a Sunday invite but today I got an invitation to a "College of Arts and Science Reception" on April 8th or 15th - does this mean anything, or do they send it to everyone?

I'm wondering the same thing...

Oh, I would say you are admitted, morningtheft:)

Do they send them to everyone?

Hmmmm.....I wonder why they sent out some invitations for April 3, and then some for April 15.

just to let you know that those living out of the US don't get one, (guess they think it's too far to travel, which it is.)

Hey, this is my first post here. My mom is obsessed with my college application process and reads these boards every day though.

Today I got my Sunday in the Square invite to Tisch. My GPA is crap (85.6) and my SATs are reasonable (1450), so I felt I wasn't going to be able to get into a school as good as NYU (cause of my GPA).

Does this mean I'm in? Can I start partying and slacking off in school?

i got a cas reception card too. does this mean the same thing as a sunday in the square invite?

we got a saturday in the square for april 9th

did anyone get one for that day?
