Hi everyone! I'm a high school senior and I'm considering attending SUNY Albany. I applied early action and got in. I'm looking to go for business or communications, not entirely sure yet. I visited the campus and I liked it, I know some people say it's "ugly" but I really don't think it is at all. If anything, I like how urban it is compared to most other colleges. Anyway, the one thing that has bothered me throughout my college search is the reputation Albany seems to bring with it: the "party school" reputation. I've seen a lot of people complain about how wild the parties are and all that, how loud it is, how people drink all the time. I'm not saying I don't want to have fun or anything, but I don't want to get involved in any of that wild, crazy stuff that people seem to be saying about the school. Personally, I feel like all those reviews I've read are probably a bit exaggerated; every school has it's far share of parties, what makes UAlbany any different? Plus, Albany's a big school, I'm bound to find a few nerds like myself, right? So, mainly addressing people who have attended the school, do you think Albany lives up to that whole "party school" reputation?

every school parties, and i dont think suny albany is near the top of the party list haha its just typical college where your reading reviews that mormoms wrote about how much drinking goes on, its goes on at every school. if u like the school and what it offers, and can picture yourself going there, then go. plus ull learn to party within the first few months of college, and then it wont be such a big deal or distraction.

Albany IS near the top of party schools but there are kids who don’t. The business school is excellent, not sure about communications. My son took one look at the school and refused to apply.

Their business school has a good reputation.

Socially, you will find your own niche. If you want to find people who are studying in the library on Saturday night, and then want to go out for coffee with them, you will find them.
