We got an email on Wednesday night from Watson. There’s a tab on the bottom that says status. When we click on it. , we can sign into the portal and it just says application complete
No acceptance or denial
My son just heard he got into SOM!
Public HS in Westchester
GPA 96.7/100 unweighted
ACT 36
6 APs (school only allows during Junior and Senior year)
Activities - has some leadership and work experience
He is very happy…
We didn’t see anything about Merit scholarships or Honors (I know it’s hard to get into) - does that come later? I saw someone got into Suny Buffalo honors college already but they are obviously different schools…
As a parent of a D23/current Bing student. Honors/FRI I believe come separate. And merit scholarships for in state students is super super rare.
My daughter got the email about a status change on Wed. She got into the SOM. We’re out of state.
100% every high school is different
a 4.5w at one school may be what a kid at another school works out to be a 5.2w with their grading scale
there is no universal definition of high stats. completely subjective.
and every application cycle is different so while the CDS is a great resource it is not the bible.
since covid it’s a whole new circus out there.
when I read “oh my student got in there with XYZ” it is not a slam dunk that the following application cycle those stats will be what the AOs are looking to admit. then add in the parents who say, “oh I got in there in the 90s with only this score, gpa, no recco and maybe one after school activity.”
merit trickled out exactly a week later.
my most favorite type of emails from all these schools…NOT.
Congratulations! Can I ask when he applied? Trying to gauge if mine will hear back.
This way the email a few night ago with the link that showed no status change in the application?
Ah, sorry, the email she received was a notification of a status change.
Thanks!
Thank you! He applied around October 20th or so…
Ok cool thanks.
