Got into Stony Brook back in the middle of December and a letter came in the mail today saying I was accepted to the Honors College. Good luck to everyone still waiting on decisions.
Got a letter today saying I was accepted to WISE. Like BrianRod39, I was also accepted back in the middle of December. Good luck to everyone that’s waiting on their decisions!
I’m still waiting for acceptance via EOP program. I’m academically eligible and I believe I’m eligible financial wise. I’ve already sent in my financial reports and they’ve got it the next day. I haven’t heard back yet Are all the EOP spots possibly filled?
I applied as an applied mathematics applicant but I didn’t receive my official acceptance letter yet, only my “Congratulations” on SOLAR. Last night I got an email for the admitted students day for the College of Engineering and Applied Science, does this mean I got into the program?
My son applied to the honors program but haven’t heard anything yet. Accepted back late Jan/Feb I think (applied mid dec). Ended up with full tuition scholarship (2 scholarships, 1 $4000, & the NMF for $3,000). Do most people know ? @BrianRod39 does honors college show on you portal?
Not that I can tell. My SOLAR appears to be unchanged and recieving a letter in the mail is the only way to find out.
My daughter was accepted into the Science and Engineering program on Jan 9th. We were notified yesterday, she was accepted into the WISE program. During the ED phase, she was deferred from Yale. Probably because we didn’t fake her rowing ability. She didn’t need help with her SAT’s.
I think going to SBU vs some of these ‘elite’ colleges is looking better. She easily would have been accepted at USC, Wake Forrest or Georgetown but we couldn’t afford it (or were willing to borrow for it) as per their respective net price calculators. SBU is a first rate education at a fraction of the cost of these ‘elite’ schools that are now tainted. Not fair to those who got in legitimately, those athletes not selected, those who have legitimate 504’s.I hope they all go to jail.
I have about a 4.0 gpa which is 93 gpa weighted and 1220 SAT. I have 4 recommendation letters and 1 solid college essay for the common app, except for my other 2 supplement essay which are not for Stony Brook. I am in the varsity male swim team at my school for 2 years, nyc park swim team for 5 years, and vice president during senior year for the Christian Seeker Club for 3 years. I currently volunteer at my church’s children worship program and VBS summer program. My ethnicity is Asian American if that helps as well. I applied around January 12th couple days before the day deadline, January 15,2019. I have taken 3 APs as a junior ( US History, English Language, Biology) and now take 5 APs as a senior ( Physics 1, Calculus AB, Computer Science Principles, English Literature, and US Government and Politics). I also have taken 4 college now classes( College and Career Development, Science, Pre-Calc, and Intro to Business). Will I have a good chance of getting into Stony Brook?
Depends on what major you applied to. If you applied for engineering or comp sci, your chances are not that great. You should be able to get into other less selective majors though.
Hello ,Question for stressfulApps and others who have also received acceptance to WISE.Do students accepted into this program receive merit aid?
@Cowharbor - SBU is a wise investment - You should never go into debt as an undergrad. Save that cash for when your daughter decides to attend Graduate School. Best of luck to her and to all who applied.
Has anyone that applied EOP heard back yet?
I applied as a Biochemistry major
Anyone receive anything in the mail today for Honors? Daughter got in in Jan with full tuition scholarship and applied to Honors but nothing in mail yet.
@2023collegeboy I applied as Biochemistry major as a Premed
@butete same here. My son was accepted within a couple of weeks of submitting application. First got $4000 then another $3000 for being NMF. Wish I knew rhyme or reason for this. Accepted into scholars for Bing & other big state schools.
@butete My son just got a letter in today’s mail inviting him into the Honors program!
@Haysmom Congratulations!!!
Hey guys, I got accepted to Stony this Monday… I currently in Nassau Community College. I’ve applied for Business major. My gpa is 3.61, and I’ll graduate over the summer from NCC. I’m just little bit worried if all my credits will transfer to Stony Brook? U took all courses that were required in NCC for A.S in Business Administration degree. I just not sure if they will accept my credits? Thank you guys.
Just got an email saying I was rejected from Stony honors programs (I selected all 3 but preference for WISE)…
feeling really bummed out because I got the presidential scholarship so I thought I had a good chance
