I just received my SSAT scores back I received a 95 overall with 85 in reading comp., 82 in math, and 99 in vocab. I am already signed up for the November test so even though I am very happy with this score I am going to take it again. I think I can do better on the reading comp, and math. Does anyone know how super scoring works? If I score lower on vocab but higher on Math, and Reading comp. on the next test can I keep my vocab score? If this matters I am applying to Andover, Groton, Hotchkiss, Middlesex, Deerfield and Choate. Thanks in advance.

Superscoring is how the school would handle your scores if you send more than one test reports. You’ll have to ask each school individually to find out if they would superscore as every school handles things differently.
I had never heard of it before but when we were visiting Episcopal High School, we were told that they superscore.
EHS would look at the highest score of each section on your SSAT test score. But I do not know any other school that does that.
Your score is fantastic. I would not worry about it much whether they superscore or not. If you do get a better math score I’d send both reports to the schools. If it was me, I’d redirect the efforts to other parts of the application.

95 is adequate for any school, even the most selective with the highest average SSAT scores like Andover and Exeter.

Think about it this way as well…what if by some chance your November scores are not as high. Would that cause more or less stress for you in the end? Take the 95% and be proud of it! At least take a few days to think it over…

Prepx3 If I were to get a lower score the next time round is there any reason the schools I apply to will see it?

If you do not send it, they will not see it.

To be completely honest the main reason I am going to retake it is my parents have already paid for me to take it in November. So if there is no consequence for taking it again because I know my original score is strong enough so I wont stress out to much, and no school will see my new score if it is bad it, it seems like I might aswell take it again because even if it doesnt matter too much a 97 is better than a 95 and math is a strong suit of mine and I would like my SSATs to reflect that.

Yes, in that case, you’d take it without sweating much and not wonder what if…
No worries. Congrats on the great score.

Ah…I didn’t realize it was already scheduled and paid for. In that case definitely go for it and congrats again!!
