1) Are they asking why YOU prefer Brown to all the other colleges,

or

2) why THEY should pick you over all the other applicants?

Interpretation #1 would make the response about what the applicant wants to do at Brown, while #2 is more about what the applicant can contribute to the campus.

Look, they don’t need you to tell them why Brown is wonderful. They already know that. So listing all the resources that would be available to you would be a waste of an essay.

What is it that you are looking for in college (or in life) that meshes with what Brown has to offer? And why is it that you’re looking for that? Tell them about YOU, not about Brown.

it’s a mix of both. Why do you prefer Brown over all the other colleges and therefore why they should pick you? The point of the essay is to demonstrate that you are applying to Brown for reasons other than it’s an ivy league school and to make it clear why you being at Brown would be best for you.

you separated the question into 2, but its really the same question. why brown over all the other colleges signifies a personal preference, and that preference undoubtedly has to do with your interests. its a receiving and a giving, simultaneously.
