Supplemental Essay Length

I thank all of you in advance.

I have an essay that is solid - but is only 250 words. I chose the "quote" prompt for which I chose a quote of quote by Sophocles: "'Numberless are the world's wonders, but non more wonderful than man.
His is the power to cross the storm-driven seas…
His are speech and wind-swift thought…'"

My word count is not including the quote. The parameters for the essay are no less than 250, no more than 650. Is that cutting it close? My AP English teacher and counselor believe that essays are evaluated by quality, not quantity; but I need every second opinion that I can get!

250 words is on the short side, but if you feel that you’ve sufficiently illuminated something about yourself, then there’s no reason to write more for the sake of writing more. Just make sure that it is in fact a solid essay.

Dead serious, if your essay is powerful, I think it could actually benefit you. A 250 word essay will be a breath of fresh air for an admissions officer after spending their day drowning in nearly-600-word essays like mine :-)
