Hey everyone.
So I just realized that it's possible that my supplemental rec got sent in without my DOB and, worse, referring to me by my nickname. I would ask the recommender to resend it, but he's left the country and I don't know when I'll be able to contact him again.
Should I:
a) hope the admissions office sorts it out (my name isn't common, but it isn't very rare either, and I did put my preferred name on my app)...
b) e-mail them and tell them the situation (would it help if I told them the name of the recommender here?)

Also... Will they be angry? Is it still an acceptable rec if it's clear that it's me? I talked about the activity that the recommender knows me from a lot in my app, so I don't think there'll be any ambiguity.

What happens when we get a letter of recommendation in the mail:

Open envelope.

Take out piece of paper.

Unfold piece of paper.

Highlight last name of applicant.

Search in our system for anyone with that last name/first name combo.

If that does not work, search in our system for anyone with that last name.

If that does not work, look for other information in the letter, like HS name, and search our system for anyone applying from that HS.

Update application if things look kosher.

If things don’t look kosher, we hold the documents and check in every several days or so to see if we can associate a document with an application. VERY RARELY do documents get submitted to us that we can’t associate with an application. I get to see all of these; there are very few of them. The Freshmen Records folks have dogged determination when it comes to this!
