Hello! I am a junior getting ready for the application process. For the last 6 years, I have been heavily involved in my school’s performing arts program, and that will definitely show through in my application’s extracurriculars.
For my recommendations (I am planning on two) , I was going to ask my Choir/ Theatre director for one of them. She has directed me for 6 years, watched my growth, and we have a really good relationship. However, I found out that many of my goal schools want the main recommendations to be from academic teachers.
I’m going to ask my English and French teachers, but I feel like they don’t know me as well as my director does. However, I know that it is usually advised to not submit a supplemental recommendation unless necessary. In this case, should I submit a supplemental recommendation in addition to my 2 teacher recommendations? Or will it still appear unnecessary?
***Not sure if this is noteworthy, but my director is also my school’s music teacher, but I’ve never taken her classes- I’ve only participated in her extracurriculars. So I’m not sure if she would show up as a teacher on the recommendation, even though I do not consider her one of my teachers… ?
