I have one supplemental rec sent in, and I wanted to make sure they got it. So I called the admissions office, and asked if they could check it for me. All she said was that “If we are sent a supplemental rec, it will be pun in your file.” I already knew that, so it really did not help me. I then asked if there was any way to check the status of a supplemental rec online, and she said no, and then I asked if there was any way to check the status of a supplemental rec over the phone, and she said no. Not wanting to upset the person, I said thank you for your help, and then hung up. What should I do now? This rec is kinda important, and I would like to know if it got in, and not lost in the mail or all the crazyness of the apps coming in the mail.

I remember Columbia had no problem looking up the supplemental recs when I called, I don’t see why Brown would have a problem.

I can see why they would be annoyed, with a record number of apps to look over :-

If you are really nervous, you could always resend it.

If there is one thing I dislike about Brown, it is its admissions office's bureaucratic ways. Resending it won't hurt, but honestly, by the time they file it, your fate will probably have been decided.

I did not send it, the person who wrote the rec sent it. And I don't want to ask the person to re-send the rec unless the rec is definatly lost.

Does the same person stand at the phone every day? Could I try calling back on monday and asking a different person?

Did you speak to a secretary or an adcom? If it was a secretary, they didn't remember you. If it was an adcom, they rotate. Can you tell I've called many many times? And still no progress on my own problem.

What is your problem?

I'm excited. They found my personal statement... but... didn't get my activities list. Crud. Gotta find a way to fax that tomorrow.

I needed to change my second semester schedule, but in order to do that, you have to write and ask permission, so almost 2 months ago, I wrote a letter explaining the situation, and they didn't write back, so I've been calling a lot, and no one will even tell me if they got the letter because only my admissions officer can do that, but she hasn't called the number that I've left numerous times, so right now, I'm stuck doing physics labs bit by bit during my lunch period by myself because I can't change my freaking schedule.
