supplementaries

are music or art the only supplementaries allowed or can u send in some of ur random crazy ideas too?

You can send anything you want to send.

Matt has a blog entry on supplemental materials, in which he mentions art, music, research papers, and "anything else":

My oldest son put together this rather bizarre thing about industrial espionage and Bill Gates, complete with photos of himself in different settings. It involved programming in some fashion. I thought it was very funny. Don't know if it helped, but he'll be a senior in EECS this year so I guess it didn't hurt too much.

haha yeah, you can send pretty much anything... I completely freaked out when my teacher told me she had included an article I had written with her recommendation... I emailed one of the admissions officers to see if it was necessary to remove the article and they thought it was okay. it seems like extra materials are okay as long as they show a different side of you.

I also sent a rec from a friend... and another one from a rocket club president in Florida.

so would you just send a half page summarizing what you did or send the actual stuff which i dont think would really help...since it'll be either too big, long etc to really read or look at

I would send a summary... in terms that a non-expert in the respective field would understand :]
