I'm attending Arizona State University, the third best Supply Chain Management school in the nation (U.S. News) and am declared as pre-supply chain management (have to get into the Business school after soph year, not too worried).

What can I expect being in this major and what types of jobs could I eventually receive? I eventually want to get an MBA, but you have to work for a certain number of years.

distribution jobs such as at a dick's warehouse are mostly promote-from-within opportunities. what you'll probably end up starting as is a supply chain analyst at some company (most mid-size to large companies have them) and then you can go as far up as vice president of logistics (some companies have them) or you can enter general management.

it's a good time to be in the suppy chain business. For career exploration, look around the career websites of companies with big supply chains (walmart, boeing, etc.) Also, check out the CCSMP's careers in logistics guide.

Yea, I am actually not assuming that I will have some huge job within a company right away. I actually hope to get a few years of experience before that. So getting an entry level position (hopefully a good one) is just fine, as long as I'm employed and have medical insurance.

Personally I find supply chain (logisitcs, transportation, inventory planning, forecasting, customer service, distribution) to be a very interesting area in which to work and a great way to leverage some travel into a job.
