Surprised about Taft

Looking at the Master List so far, only one CC'er has posted acceptance to Taft. Several each of WL's and rejections. I recall earlier discussions that the school was close to or over capacity after very high yield last year. Wonder if their admissions were even more competitive than usual? Son is among the WL'd, but I think we'll let it go and focus on the choices he does have. Any comments from other applicants/parents encouraged, though.

i guess that means that absolutley nobody got accepted to taft this year… you know cuz the only people who applied to taft use this forum

Rejection letter said over 1600 applications for 170 spots. Compare this to SPS, which had about 1400 applications for 211 places.

deerhotch, my logic was the other way around: with all the people that DO use this forum and apply to top schools, I’m surprised there are more acceptances posted here. I consider Taft a top school…don’t you?

Wow, 2010 hopeful. I remember seeing that you got into St. Mark’s & Berkshire (congratulations!). Did your letters for those schools say how many applications they received for how many spots?

St. Mark’s: The acceptance video that was sent to me said that there were 715 applications (776 interviews) but it didn’t say the number of spots. On their website, they said that they typically enroll about 100 new students each year.

Berkshire: I didn’t receive any statistics from them in my letter.

Thanks! Would be interesting to see stats on other schools from this year, if anyone here knows them.

Daughter was just accepted to Taft class of 2014. :)

TWO THUMBS UP! Knew there had to be one or two out there.

I know of several class of 2014 acceptances. However, I have also heard of 2013,2014 wait list and rejects.

I was accepted to Taft class of 2014
I’m so happy (I was losing hope).

Accepted- class of 2014 to Taft, I was weight listed at Deerfield and accepted with a full hand written letter to Berkshire

We still did
not get the letter from Taft. Why it takes so long?

That’s why they call it snail mail. It took two days to go less than 100 miles in our case.

My son was accepted to Taft class of 2014. 10th Grade.
We are international so we got email on M10.

accepted to taft  class of 2015!

Daughter was accept to Taft, class of 2014! We’re thrilled, but are waiting until after the revisit day to decide for sure.

Wow, so many new sophomores. I’m glad I’m not alone :)

Taft was the only school that rejected me…

Is it true that prep schools don`t take two people from the same school? If any one could help me that would be great. Thanks!
