**1)Is UCD mostly a commuter school? **
I’d guess that the vast majority of housing in Davis consists of apartment buildings and townhouses, from that and from experience I’d say no - the vast majority of people I know from class live in Davis (in a shared apartment or something).

**2) Are weekends boring? **
Nope, I don’t even know how that’d be a problem, it’s like living just about anywhere else.

3) Do students often go home on weekends?
I’ve only been here since fall, so my experience is limited, but I think it depends on where you live: Lots of people I know that live within an hour or two of their family go home at least 2 weekends out of the month. That’s about it? The town is pretty busy most weekends.

4) If you usually live on campus and don’t go home, then what do you do for fun on weekends?
I don’t live on campus… my family and I live in Davis! I usually have lots to keep me busy on the weekends, but if all else fails I’ll just do homework or sit around online… or go bowling. Summer break should get interesting since I’m still here xD

5) About what percentage of freshmen live on campus?
Lots.

6) About what percentage of undergrads live on campus?
Most people that live on campus are freshmen, but I know someone that was living in Primero Grove as a 3rd year and they were enjoying it just fine.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to dorm the first year to have a social life - lots of my transfer friends shared apartments and seem to have had a great time (although some moved during the year XD). That said, it helps to share a place with others (because college students are too busy to go visit their friends during the quarter!) and not live with your family xD

Even if you do end up with a living arrangement like mine it’s ok though, you meet a lot of people and plenty of them are in the same town - it’s just a matter of having the time to goof off. I dunno how most people do it, between errands and classes and other stuff I’m usually too busy to go out much.

From what I’ve noticed, lots of people identify their best friends as people they dormed with during their first year and spend most of their time ‘hanging out’ with people they live with. Admittedly after hearing that I sometimes feel like I’m dealing with social life like as if I’m on the outside of a glass box XD oh well.

shrug Hope that answered some of your questions!
