I was thinking about you and your son over the weekend, wonder if you were breaking out the party hats. I was pretty sure you would be, but I really don't like jinxing people....

shandi-booh:

Congratulations. We parents tend to hyperventilate about your accomplishments a lot! Getting into Swarthmore from Massachusetts is no easy feat. Tough odds coming from the Bay State.

I got in ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! my mail was sent to my permanent address in Maryland.
I'm going home Korea and stuck in LA airport. I have to wait for 10 hours, but I am happy.

If you have to be stuck in LAX for 10 hours, being stuck with the elation of an ED acceptance to Swarthmore College is about as good as it could get. Congratulations.

Interesteddad - thank you so much! Not sure of the party hats, but really excited! I have been following your posts on the "coaches lied" thread, very interesting. Be assured, Swarthmore was never never like that! I wanted to share with you my son's quote that was in the newspaper the other day after being named athlete of the week. I think you may find it refreshing for an athlete:

"Did you know? (Son's name) is successful in the classroom as well. On Friday, he was accepted to Swarthmore College, located in southeastern Pennsylvania, the third-best liberal arts school in the country according to the 2008 U.S. News and World Report college rankings.

“I'm very excited,” (Son) said. “Academics matter more to me than basketball. My basketball career will be over soon, but the things I can learn from Swarthmore I'll always have use for.”"

When I read that in the paper, I thought of you and your love for Swarthmore! I still haven't slept in almost a week I am so excited about Swarthmore!

When did you submit?
I got tons of things from them.
If you applied ED II, they have this huge package they send you with what you have to hand in.

mainly the CSS profile stuff, FAFSA, and their own little financial aid questionnaire.
It says that its due early January, so if you didnt get anything from them i suggest you go get the material from their website rather than wait for them to mail it to you.

@ roblan : I submitted it via CommonApp and supporting materials like recs, transcript, financial aid documents in 2/1/2009. They haven't send me anything via email like considering my application yet.
