On December 12th, those who applied by priority filing (like me) will find out if we were admitted or not. Now, I applied for a Chemistry major in LAS. I am taking Adv. Chem AP this year, and am realizing that chemistry is DEFINITELY not for me.

I want to switch to English to be a lawyer, as I am much, much better at English and writing in general. The English major is also in LAS. Will it be difficult to switch majors? When should I request, if I am admitted?

You should attempt to switch now although if your file has already been reviewed for admission (possible) and decision made it may be too late to make change for consideration in priority date group. Otherwise if admitted, the general rule they are following now is that you should not switch until completion of first year although the LAS college in the past has allowed some such switches before starting freshman year. Note, even if you enter as a chemistry major and intend to switch at end of first year it will be easy to do from Chemistry to English as long as you take courses recommended for the English major in freshman year and since most, if not all, courses you will take freshman year are General Ed courses (even freshman English courses are Gen ed for any other major, and math and chemistry are Gen ed courses that can apply to an English major) you should easily be able to do that.

I transferred from Chemistry to Biology as soon as I got onto campus. It is not a big deal to switch from Chemistry to English because they are both in LAS and you usually take general education courses and what not in the beginning anyway. I think the post above is correct in saying that you'd be in Chemistry till you complete an entire semester. Like I said, I was chem (I took one chem course 1st sem) and immediately switched.
