Hey, I got into JMU EA. I orginally applied for the health science major. Now I've completely switched and want to do business. How do I go about doing that? Will there be a problem if I switch?

I don't see it as a problem. I believe that you will need to take pre-business classes as well as core classes and if your gpa is high enough at the end of sophomore year, you can apply for admission into the business school. Ask admissioins who to contact, and the procedures. You might be able to do this with your freshman year advisor, but I am not sure. There is some paperwork that I believe needs to be signed by the correct people. Guidleines might be spelled out in your catalogue (online), but again, I am not sure about that either.

No problem. My senior year oh high school I auditioned for the music program, didn't make so I was undeclared, declared Theatre at orientation, then switched to History after my first semester. Just talk to your advisor and they'll tell you exactly what to do.

Thanks so much for the replys. You've definitely put my mind at ease. I will be heading to JMU for the Choices Open House in April. I will ask about the details of this whole process then and get it all hammered out.

Wow, sorry to keep posting, but I just found this from the JMU website that answered my question. Hopefully, this can help future students!

"3. What if I declare a major on the Orientation reservation web page that is different from the major on my JMU application?

That's fine! The major you indicate on the Orientation reservation web page will be your JMU major. Students often change their major from the time they apply for admission to the time they make their Orientation reservation."
