haha no problem! It’s just a tricky question and one that not many people will answer because most will think you’re trying to “back-door” into an impacted major. Rather, at least for you and me, we’ve had legitimate experience in these majors and genuinely find them as interesting, if not more than the one we wrote (both phil) on our application.

Oh, and yeah, definitely. If we get in to UCB let’s get the College Confidential poker night going lol.

fsho man lol… yeah i applied for philosophy thinking that i was gonna go to law school, but now i had a change of heart and am strongly considering business… so since we get accepted into the school and not the major, we can apply to any major in that particular school? like economics? that seems too good to be true…

I’m not 100% sure about Econ…though since it is in L&S, I would assume that is actually the case. I’ll dig up some verification on this later tonight for ya. I’m pretty sure you can though as long as you have the necessary GPA and prereps done.

UCB (for whatever reason) is much more lenient on this matter than UCLA. Like at UCLA, you have to be directly admitted into an impacted major to major in that field. At UCB, from everybody I’ve spoken to, they say this is not the case.

I’m going to go ask about switching into Econ in the UCB forum… Gonna go get thrashed lol. Watch everyone think I’m trying to “back-door” into Econ haha.

LMAO I know, man! It’s crazy in there. I’m actually sort of excited to read their responses. I’m sure they will be epic and saturated with plenty of sarcasm.

Anyway, check out my thread on the UCB forum, or I’ll just keep ya posted on what they say here. Btw I’m also pretty interested in Econ, so it’s relevant to me as well.

If you’ve never taken Calculus 1 or 2, I would NOT recommend doing a major that is math heavy. At the college-level, anything before Calc 2 is barely even considered Math. (It’s like the difference between learning how to use grammar correctly versus writing legit poetry.)

Oh, I was getting you confused with kernIslanders who replied as if he was you. Sorry for the misunderstanding. If you got an A in Calc I and II and you feel like you actually understand it and don’t simply know the method to it; then you should probably be fine in the rest of your required math if you study. :)

Hey! I did not! and I thought for sure my writing would be feminine and wussy enough to convey that I am a chick. Guess I’d better work on my girly postings.

hell yes- but screw that grilled ****. Original fried w/some biscuits and honey. I guess I’ll make my college decision based on proximity to KFC?

Alright guys, I wasn’t gonna ask…but where is Roscoe’s?! lol. I mean apparently there’s some real love for it on this page haha. I live near San Mateo if that matters at all (norcal for those that don’t know). I do like KFC though.

@ iambeowulf: The people that have replied to my thread in the UCB forum are all saying that you should have no problem switching into Econ even though it’s impacted since you’ll have the prereqs done…too good to be true indeed.
