So I applied to UCLA as a biochem major, but was very unsure as to what major I actually wanted to pursue back in November. However, after some more research, I am started to lean to want to pursue an Econ major, not business Econ. On UCLA’s website, it says switching majors at New Student Orientation within the school of arts and sciences should not be a problem, but I am a tad concerned. Is there anyone that could give me some reference as to the ease of switching majors, especially from something like to science oriented to Econ.
Much appreciated.
I assume you are a high school senior in which case the intended major you indicated on your application is not taken into consideration for admissions. However, the college is! Fortunately, Biochem, Econ and Business Econ are all within the College of Letters and Sciences, the largest college at UCLA. You will easily be able to switch majors within your college. You will not easily be able to switch to Engineering (College of Engineering and Applied Science) or the other majors that reside in the other colleges such as Music, Nursing, Film or Architecture. Hope that helps!
