Switching Majors

How hard is it to switch majors at Binghamton, and go from undecided to business?

switching from one major to another is not difficult IF the majors are both within the same school. if you want to transfer to another school, you have to apply for an intra-university transfer. the ease of doing so depends on the schools involved and how you've done.
business is in the school of management. the school of management is the hardest to get in to both initially as a new applicant and also as an intrauniversity transfer.
if you apply undecided and are accepted you are considered to be in harpur, the liberal arts school.

if you want to be a business major DO NOT apply to harpur or anything besides SOM. True it is the hardest to get into initially but if you don't get in initially chances are you most likely wont get in on intra university transfer. And if you don't get in on the transfer you will be a ****ed off person like myself. I rather have applied and get rejected and go to a different school where i could have done business then be stuck in the situation i am having to apply to different schools over again and be a transfer student which sucks. If there are any opening for SOM. which atleast for the spring there was none last i checked you need a 3.5 for them to even read your application and more like a 3.8 or better to get accepted. thats IF there are openings.

Once you're accepted, the above posts elaborate on that situation.

If you do, however, change your mind and decide you want to be considered for SOM right now, before they make decisions, I just called about 10 minutes ago on this matter, haha. (I was put into Harpur because I had indicated a different academic interest on Common App with Business as option 2 :-.)

I believe I saw your name on another post and you've received your applicant ID? To switch what school you're being considered for, you need to write them a signed letter with your applicant ID/social security number (app ID is preferred, I think, but I don't have mine yet so I'm using my soc) and mail it to their admissions office, formally stating your intentions.

If you plan on doing this---the sooner, the better to get that letter in. If not, good luck anyway in pursuing whatever it is you want to pursue.

And wow, I just looked at the dates on this thread... ah well... I suppose I'll leave this post up anyway.
