Syracuse University Class of 2022 Waitlist

Good luck everyone. My D has come to the realization that she will have to decline her acceptance. 10k just not enough. I don’t know how Cuse expects families to afford 60k+ and going up. Hopefully her spot will be put to good use. Off to her number 2 that is more affordable and offering more $ too boot.

Good luck. You will all be great wherever you go.

Ktm1300. Best of luck to your daughter. Would u mind saying which school she was accepted to and when she heard back

Has anyone heard anything today??

Nope. I didn’t expect to hear until after 5/1.

Nothing

Sure. Arts and sciences. She heard back on March 23rdish??? Good luck

I was hoping to see some acceptances by now. I called yesterday and was given no info.

@Cuse2022 did they tell you there would not be any notifications until after 6/1?

We missed an email sent in reply last Friday. Said there was no news - they really can’t say until the admissions committee meets and decides how many spots there are to fill from Wait List. She said that if you are on the waitlist, you already have what it takes to be a Syracuse student but they just don’t have enough space. She said not to give up hope! That’s all she could tell me!

The woman said decisions will be made soon and gave me no more information. So we wait.

I’d expect for them to wait until 5/1 so they have an idea of what enrollment looks like before admitting waitlisted applicants.

For those of you with a child on the Newhouse waitlist: would you share which school you will commit to May 1? We’re down to the wire here: it’s between American and Klein College (Temple).

My son was waitlisted last year to arts and science. He received a phone call May 2nd, a day after we put deposit on another school, that he was in. He was told because of the ease of applying with common app more are waitlisted than ever before. Many apply that know they probably won’t go there. He decided to go to SU and late summer decided he wanted to switch to engineering major. He applied and was accepted. Presently finishing freshman year and loves it. Don’t give up hope!!

@daisy33 my son committed to penn state. He was also considering Michigan state. Best of luck to your son. Plz post his decision.

@zcaccmom thank you for sharing your sons road to Syracuse. Definitely helped to read it. Glad your son is loving Syracuse.

@zcaccmom Thank you for your story! Very inspiring! The Common App may be the cause for higher wait lists for other majors, but applying for musical theater (MT) is far from easy! First, you have to create individual video prescreens of two contrasting songs (32 bars), 2 contrasting monologues, and a dance. Only half of those that submit prescreens move on to callbacks. Then you attend a callback audition and are put through a dance class, learning a combination and taking criticism from the instructor. Then you audition with two songs and a monologue for the drama and music instructions. And then, you are told they take 21-24 freshmen of the 500 that made callbacks. So, I am excited that we were listed among those waitlisted. We did have other choices and committed to Rider University!

My D was accepted into the dual program with Whitman and Newhouse and has decided to turn it down so hopefully that helps someone here on the waitlist! Good luck everyone

Good luck to your daughter and all our kids!! They work so hard, wherever they choose to go they will do well

Just got off the waitlist and offered admission today

I just heard from the waitlist, I got in!!! College of Arts & Sciences!!
