My daughter (waitlisted for Newhouse) hasn’t heard back either.
@collegemom38 and daisy33 Thanks for the responses. I’m wondering if Newhouse is filled to capacity and the only chance of an opening is if a committed student withdraws. If you have any thoughts, please share. I’m hoping for promising news.
I am thinking that could be the case since it is one of the most highly regarded programs in Syracuse and I am sure not to many people are withdrawing but at this point I guess we can just hope that a few spots become available.
I thought they said we would hear back after June 1st
Could have sworn I saw a 10:09 post saying the poster got admitted from the college of engineering wait list. The post is inexplicably gone. Wonder what happened.
@bode123 I am assuming that they meant that as a final date. I think they are waiting for all the other waitlists to settle out too. There will continue to be some shifting through the month of May.
@bode123 Which school are you waitlisted for?
Has anyone received their official letter of acceptance yet? I’m still waiting on mine when the admissions representative said that It’d be sent to me by this week.
Has anyone here been waitlisted for Architecture? My son was waitlisted, and we’re still holding our breath waiting to hear something back. I was surprised to read that there are several people who have been contacted from the waitlist already. Seems like a lot of students interested in MT. My son already committed to another school at this point, but would ultimately love to go to SU. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I only know if 3 waitlisted for MT. We havent seems lot of movement at Syracuse! Have you emailed admissions about his placement?
Yes, I spoke with a very nice admissions counselor. His advise was similar to the other responses. My son sent a Continued letter if interest early on, and it was suggested that he submit any new information along with more letters of recommendations from teachers that knew him best. He managed to get all of this, and submitted within days of speaking with them. Their architecture program is ranked 3rd in the nation, so we already knew how competitive it would be to get in. He is currently committed to RPI (also a great school), but would really love to go to SU. The waiting is killing me. Even if it’s a NO, I just want an answer to be able to move forward with this process. I wish they’d hurry up and let these poor kids know already.
@njarchitectmom Sounds like he’s doing all the right things! Good luck to your son. I hope to hear something soon.
Our most recent response from Syracuse Acting is that won’t hear anything else regarding the WL until after June 1.
@theaterlove3 Thank you for keeping us updated!
So… Nothing today?
Most recent response for MT Waitlist… Same thing… “Thanks for the update. We have added it to your file.” In a survey for the college my D is planning on attending to in the Fall, the college asks, "How did XXX’s University’s interest in YOU afffect your decision to attend? I would say OVERWHELMING positively affected the decision. It was great that my D fit in so well with this school that they wanted her right away and actively recruited her.
I wonder if any other colleges do this kind of survey? How do auditioners treat those that are auditioning for them? Some colleges would be amazed at the bad press they are leaving these young people with, as many posts at college confidential suggest. I can’t believe how many people had the same experience as my D had at being badgered and ridiculed at the audition for this university. Good thing my D has a hard shell and lets things roll down her back!
I started this thread to see if she would really get off the waitlist. As we move closer to June 1, I am betting that things are pretty much decided, but my daughter already feels she has found her home. Good luck getting off the waitlist. I hope that you get in!!
Wait, you daughter had that awful audition experience at Syracuse?
Checking in…has anyone heard anything? Was hoping for an email yesterday and…nothing.
@njarchitectmom Nothing here - my D, and a few others on this thread, are waitlisted for Newhouse.
According to the information updated last year, if still no e-mail from SU, we all will be notified until June 30th with a
rejection.
“We have finalized our fall enrollment and regret that we will not be able to offer you admission to Syracuse University at this time. However, should we find that we have additional space for this fall, we will contact you prior to August 1.”
From SU.
