*Syracuse University ED 2019*

@MadHappy568 SAT:1900+ gpa: 3.69 What are ur stats? I can chance u.

@kkb2015‌ I mailed the tax returns to AO

@llaxcvb‌
SAT: 1720
GPA: 3.7

5 out of 53 students

(Small rural Vermont public school)
-I’ve taken 2 ap classes and 3 dual enrollment/ college courses

  • Been appart of the schools theater program from 6 year participating in 15+ productions (anywhere from leads to supporting cast)
  • Set designer for two shows (one of which won the NETC moss heart award)
  • co-founder of the GSA
  • Accepted into GIA for 2013
-student council for 4 years (president for 2, repreventative for 2)
    -NHS co- president
-student member of the schools Collabrative Peer Review team (an organization establish to take the place of NEASC for evaluating schools) partnered with YATS
  • Accapella alto for 2 years
  • working 2+ years as a snowboard instructor
  • 1st recommendation by my Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geomentry teacher. (Classes in which I was either awarded achievement or top of class)
-2nd recommendation done by my honors 10, and AP english teacher who is also the director of the Drama department who has known me forever.
Lastly, my essay and supplements each had myriad drafts and I will never have faith in my writing but they were the best I could do. I also wish to say again and hope SU knows the limitations of what my school offers considering it is in a poor area and I have tried to take every opportunity I can.

@MadHappy568 Your sat score might be a little bit below average…besides that, the stats looks pretty good. How is your portfolio? I’ve heard that portfolio plays an important role in SU application.

@llaxcvb‌ I am a bad judge of my own art work, but I think everything is fine.
Also sat wise I really think that test is a joke. Every time I took it my scores went up 100 points so it’s honestly not what you know it’s how you test. Also they are changing the testing format next year so how reliable is the current format that we have to pay to take anyways.
Little tanget, sorry. But my portfolio was a variety of drawing excerises to week long project to set design drafts/final stage.

Good luck to you @MadHappy568 Hope to see you at SOA

Hey! I applied Early Decision 2 to the David B. Falk College of Sports Management and Human Dynamics as a Public Health Major. I haven’t heard much discussion about this particular college, so I’m not exactly sure how difficult admission is to it (or how reputable it is), however I plan on double majoring in either International Relations or Public Affairs. Does anyone know anything about this college? My GPA is a 3.2w, which is well below Syracuse’s average, however, I scored a 1730/1220 on the SAT, and I have participated in several extracurricular activities, including a service trip to Panama in the most recent summer. My GPA suffers from a bad sophomore year, however since then my grades have greatly improved. I had a very successful 7th semester (5 A’s and 1 B), while taking 5 AP classes. I’ve received scores of 4 on two AP tests. Do you think there is hope for me?

Accepted ED 2 to LC Smith College of Engineering. Received the email today.
ACT: 23
GPA : 3.3
I had an admissions interview and pretty good supplemental essays.

Congratulations @Nick428‌ Did you receive any Merit?

So I just checked my spam because why not I want to avoid finals and I found my admissions letter. I got in! SOA here I come.

@rofiorillo I did not receive any notification of merit. I’m still wating on my financial aid package.

to everyone accepted, are the two questions they asked (how did you hear about Syracuse and how will Syracuse help you get to where you want to be) really supplements??? I had no idea they were and I thought you were supposed to answer in a sentence or two, so I just wrote twenty words for each question. My SAT is a 2000 and my weighted average is a 92 so I have a really good shot at making Whitman business, should I call them and tell them to let me email them my supplementals or are they questions that were supposed to be answered in one to two sentences

@mariokart217‌ I would definitely call the school and ask them. Both of mine were well drafted 250 word essays. I’d give them a call.

I see Syracuse is still engaging in the same ED I shenanigans this year as they did last year.
See this thread for the whole story:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1593816-putting-the-e-in-ed-p1.html

(It’s interesting that many folks last year were defending the way Syracuse handled ED 1 due to the Common App. tech glitches that occurred, this year they have no excuse.)

@soze‌ I applied ED1 and I still haven’t heard anything. I spoke with admissions and they said all ED1 will hear back by the end of January.

@court1125‌ : Which means that they have effectively taken both your ED 1 AND ED 2 options away from you. If they had replied by 1/1 like they were supposed to, you would have been able to apply to an ED 2 school if you were rejected or deferred. If they accept you after 1/1 they have caused you to waste time and money on RD apps.

An ED 1 reply after 1/1 pretty much defeats the purpose of ED.

@mariokart217 i wouldn’t worry too much about it. Mine were each about 90 words and I got accepted into Newhouse. When I went there for my interview one of the admissions people said that they would rather have a short answer that is a quality answer than a long one.

Accepted ED2 at LC Smith College of Engineering !!! I’m too hype right now lol
If anybody wants to know the stats:
ACT: 25
SAT: 1690
GPA: 3.85w 3.3uw @ Public School from Philadelphia
ummmmm I took an interview with the head engineering recruiter that I think I killed which probably helped me during the app process.
@Nick428 what major are you in ?

Accepted ED2 to the Bandier Program today
ACT: 27
GPA: 3.6

Interviewed, met with department head, sent in resume, answered the two questions with roughly 600 word essays highlighting my passion for the program.

Accepted (ED2) into Syracuse’s College of Engineering and Computer Science! Did not expect to see the letter early in morning.
Now I have to wait and see if I can afford as a low financially student, which should not be a problem because I heard SU has a good financial program.
Good Luck to everyone!
