I just heard from 5 friends that they got accepted today.
It seems that this wave of emails have both acceptances and rejections. I will post later tonite when my friend and I open our emails.
Update: I posted earlier at around 1 saying I knew I got in bc I checked on myslice and clicked on the admission acceptance form. I just checked my email and I got the acceptance letter! Next wave if you really can’t wait you can just find out earlier by clicking on the admission acceptance form on myslice, because they update myslice before they email you. As for my stats… I’m pretty shocked bc im a very average student. I had a rough start academics wise in high school, yet I really picked them up slowly and showed improvement. My overall weighted gpa is a 3.3 and my sat was a 2000. ECs are average haha. I think I had a really good essay and answers to the como app questions and pretty good rec letters though. Pretty excited I got in! Sorry to those who didn’t I got rejected to my absolute first choice but I’m going to love syracuse!!
@ryl49968 Do you know when you got your acceptance email?
@ryl49968 Did you get accepted to your 1st choice?
4:53 pm
kinda surprised I was rejected…I got into much better schools than Syracuse lol. Oh well, not sad at all, just kinda confused. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back! Stats: 3.7 GPA and 28 ACT
Hi all! I see that a lot of you guys are wondering if the waves are only Fridays and I believe that they are. Small groups of individuals may/may not hear on other days but I would focus on receiving any updates on Fridays. And as someone else has stated before your myslice portal will usually show that you got in earlier (usually around 1-3pm) than the email they send out with your decision (tends be me sent around 5-6).
I am also really surprised that people with high stats were rejected and I am very sorry to hear the news You seem like very like minded individuals that are capable of doing great things!
With that being said… I do believe showing interest and knowledge about the schools plays a huge role in the admissions process. They really do mean it when they say they are holistic! I did not expect an acceptance because my stats were below the average for SU. (GPA 3.3 and SAT 1800) I did an interview and went to two info sessions since I could not visit. On my supplements I spoke about how important SU’s resources were to me and pin pointed certain clubs and programs I would like to take part in.
I’m not claiming I know how they make their decisions because the admissions process is a mystery to everyone. There is no exact formula. However, know that a college decision does not, in any shape or form, define your ability to succeed in life. You all tried and going through this process is an accomplishment in itself! I am positive you will do great things wherever you decide to go! Good luck and keep your heads up high!
If you have any questions about your decision you can always call and ask why! (I do believe they have to tell you!! May be a legal thing.)
@Zmayes what major/college were you applying to?
@tohoforever I think all of those schools are just as great as Syracuse, and of course, each of them is better known for certain programs. I applied to all of them last year, except Penn State and Rutgers. I had a hard time selecting amongst Drexel, RIT, and SU and was stuck for a month. In the end, I end up going to SU. I like it here and I have a lot of friends going to RIT and Drexel. They all like the schools they are attending. All of those schools have different atmospheres and school cultures etc. I think you should decide based on where you think you’ll be the happiest and most comfortable
@ShiningOrange Thank you very much for your opinion. I am applying for chemical engineering. I got rejected at Boston and NYU. I got waitlisted at brandeis. I still have to hear back from stony brook university,SUNY Buffalo,University of pittsburgh(pittsburgh campus),university of delaware, university of maryland(college park), and NJIT.I also have to hear back from Syracuse as well. So, 7 more to go. But, I am really scared if I will get admission for the rest of these. But, I would like to know the colleges you applied if you don’t mind. I have an SAT score of 1900, good scores in my school in India( I am an US citizen studying in India),pretty neat essay, decent EC’S,3 internships and certificates from national examinations(2 or 3) with a pretty good score. I also have recommendations from 4 teachers. Can you chance for me for Syracuse and the other 6 colleges from whom I have still yet to hear? Sorry if I am being too over imposing. I am also a bit worried that I haven’t heard back from Syracuse as of yet.
@Tohoforever what major did you apply for?
Do we think that the next wave, friday April 3rd, will be waitlisted people? This waiting is awful. At this point I want to make my decision without Syracuse. If they know whether we’re in or not, why can’t they just tell us? What’s up with this waiting a week in between waves???
I completely agree with kidacat… This is ridiculous and time consuming for them and us. I wish that I could know from Syracuse already, but at this point my mind is set on UCLA.
@jjknowles don’t worry about Cuse - go to UCLA, much better school and you won’t freeze your a$$ off!!!
@mtbd1996 The major I applied for is chemical engineering.
Only few days for March to end. Well, I hope April brings us good news and acceptances for everyone especially in Syracuse.
@Tohoforever I think you have a very good chance of being admitted. Did you show any interest as well? (Spoke with admissions, did an interview, and/or did a campus tour/info session?)
@mtbd1996 Actually I am an US citizen studying in India. But, I actively spoke with the admissions regarding my application. But, campus tours weren’t possible due to my final exams which ended only a week back. I guess these are my credentials though as listed below-

I applied to 14 colleges till now though. I got rejected at Boston and NYU. I got waitlisted at brandeis. I still have to hear back from stony brook university,SUNY Buffalo,University of pittsburgh(pittsburgh campus),university of delaware, university of maryland(college park), and NJIT. But, I got into Rutgers,RIT,Drexel and Penn state. So, thats my status. Thank you very much for your advice.
This Friday is good Friday, do you guys know if they’re still going to send admission decisions? Or are they off?
