Syracuse University Regular Decision 2019

@pr0710‌ thank you. I did not visit because i had the same problem. I went to n info session nearby and the interview was 20 minutes away.

They absolutely look at interest. My son was admitted to Whitman in first wave. We visited, he interviewed, we went to the financial aid program at Lubin House in NYC. he has a great GPA, Excellent ECs, 730 Math SAT, but 530 in reading/writing…he was accepted with founders scholarship so yes, interest helps!

@pr0710 Nope, I am from New Jersey. Though I live in India right now. Well, Buffalo is pretty good too. I got accepted at drexel,RIT,Rutgers,Penn state and Syracuse till now. Got rejected at NYU and Boston university.Waitlisted at brandeis and stony brook.

@pr0710 If you are choosing between buffalo and syracuse, then I think Syracuse is better.Well it depends on your major too.But if you go to buffalo, niagara falls is nearby lol. But, Syracuse is better in my opinion.

is the next wave tommorow or all they sending htme randomly.

Some of it is random. But, majority of the waves are on fridays.

1 or 2 acceptances does does not make a wave I hope I’m wrong but really feeling the wait list and denials on Friday .seems weird that some students got accepted the past day or so almost like they are cleaning up and preparing the hammer . Someone please tell me I’m wrong

Could u guys rate my chances. I hve a 3.5 gpa, 1600 on sat, 25 on act. Good community service, extracurricular a and summer activities. I have not had a job yet. Have not visited the schoop but ma called the other day expressing y interest and to help me get more financial aid. I called yesterday an also emailed them a few times the part year. I’m hispanic, my parents were born in New York but grew up in Puertorico. My mom is a receptionist. My dad is a retired cop and U.S soldier. He went away for two years to Iraq. In my essay I talked baout how hard those two years for me. I think I nailed my essay. For my personal questions for syrcause I put what I dream of becoming and how I want o change the world. For the first one asking abou my interest in syracuse, I put how since I was little whenever I would play sports games and create my own player I would put syracuse as my collge team. I talked about how it was my dream school side I was little. Sorry for the typos, using my phone. I know my grades may not be amazing but syracuse looks at a lot more than grades. Thank you guys

pr0710; I got into RIT; what do you like about it

Haven’t heard yet, anyone wanna chance me, 3.5 gpa, 1920 SAT, attend best public school in New Jersey. Plenty of ECs, internship, toured the school, and had interview with the Dean. Applied with Newhouse as first choice and then listed Whitman and arts and sciences as 2nd and 3rd choices.

@brk133‌ if i know what school you’re talking about i think my school is second in that ranking :stuck_out_tongue: . I think Newhouse is in your lower reach. Whitman and Arts and Sciences are definitely a possibility. From previous years, usually first wave students either got their first choice or scholarship with grants.

mtbd1996 and others could u chance me.Could u guys rate my chances. I hve a 3.5 gpa, 1600 on sat, 25 on act. Good community service, extracurricular a and summer activities. I have not had a job yet. This is almost ridiculous at this point. I just want to know if I got in or not, it feels like they’re teasing us. If the decision doesn’t come tomorrow, I’m just going to enroll somewhere else. Syracuse was one of my top choices, but their lack of communication has been a big negative.

@pr0710 Well your gpa is fine. Your essay is pretty neat and so are your supplements.I think your only problem might be your SAT. If they see you as a person and disregard your SAT, I think you have a good chance of getting in.Since the admission uses a lot of criterias, you make up in cultural diversity and other factors. But, in the end, its upto the university.Well, you have a fairly good chance.Don’t worry and don’t be nervous.By the way, you could have sent the relatively better ACT score in my opinion.

@kidacat It has been exhausting for us till now.Although I got accepted today, I will still say that I wasn’t happy with how SU handled things. Plus, it is truly irritating for all of us waiting for a decision.Best of luck in any university you enroll in…

Just perused all of the threads from class of 2016 through class of 2018 and it is clear to me that this third wave seems to be mostly (mostly being over 90%) of the candidates are waitlisted or deferrals until Spring. Sorry for that bad news. But the good news is I don’t recall seeing any rejections. The problem with waitlisted is the time is shortened to a few weeks. In the meantime you must scramble to make other important decisions of other schools and programs and if you commit you must pay an admission fee (which is non returnable) My advice to parents is if you waitlist and get accepted and paid an admission fee then deduct that fee on your 2015 taxes since it is a contribution to a university. Again as I have repeatedly stated in my other posts I hope I’m wrong and if anyone posting can find other acceptances during the third wave please refer to them. Good Luck

Many students posting their stats on this forum so late in the game is technically not going to help in that I believe what ever has been decided is already decided. It seems fruitless to post these so called chance me numbers. The reality bite is that Syracuse is a unique University that is seeking unique students not always based on High scores and high GPA’S .Many students that have been accepted to SU aren’t top in their class but may have something special that is overlooked by other schools. I for one commend Syracuse for this holistic approach to education it is very refreshing. Again Good Luck

Today is the day!0

From what I have seen, the third wave does not indicate a rejection or deferral…fact of the matter is that if you actually look at previous threads, the results are quiet mixed. Everyone should have hope of getting in. Others have gotten in way late- like May late. Their is no point in speculating on the way in which Cuse’ goes about sending their admissions letters. This kind of speculation will only drive someone crazy. Given that, I hope to hear a response today, and I’m excited to see whether I got in or not!

Syracuse is the last school I am waiting on and is also kind of my last hope too but does anybody know how good they are with financial aid?
