My daughter was accepted to Syracuse with $15K merit and Quinnipiac with $24K. No other financial aid is being offered. As anyone who knows the Westchester NY area, the high cost of living doesn’t make EFC equal to other areas of the country. My question…how good really is the Quinnipiac school of communications? Of course everyone has heard of Newhouse at Syracuse, but I was surpised to see Quinnipiac high ranking in the study below which is interesting because it really is about getting jobs. My daughter would have to make up the $36K difference over four years with a loan, That would be her skin in the game if she chose Syracuse.

To me Syracuse communication school is better for you. The Syracuse Journalism school is outstanding in the world.
i would say syracuse because it has a really good reputation nationwide. also I dont know her interests in extra-curriculars, but syracuse basketball (final 4!) and even football are super competitive and would be really fun to the student body. i am a current highschool senior and I know that sports are a huge deciding factor for me.
In a low paying field like communications, cost is a big consideration. Debt even bigger.
I wouldn’t be so quick to pick Syracuse just because of its supposed reputation. The LinkedIn rank you posted is probably the most accurate around.
My daughter is in the same boat and also trying to decide between the two but as an education major. Quinn has a 5 year program where she would graduate with an undergraduate degree in another major and a masters in Ed. . She is torn. I would be curious to hear the pros and cons of both schools besides cost and weather if anyone has any input.
