Tabler Quad Discussion - Come one come all!

So I'll be dorming at Tabler, it seems pretty far from the buildings and SAC but I'll manage. Have some questions for those who have been there/tour or lived there.

How's the bathroom? What's it like?
How big are the rooms?
Nearest dining place?
How to ride the bus? >.<
Ever late getting to the classes seeing as you're pretty far away.

Any other facts/info/questions welcomed!

Tabler quad is a suite quad so you get to share a bathroom with 4-6 other people. The rooms are smaller then corridor quad rooms. Nearest dining place would be TAC which his Dunkin Donuts and some other thing. You can check at [Stony Brook University - Campus Dining and Catering Services](http://www.campusdining.org)

The bus runs every 15-30 minutes. You just get on when it stops. It is about a 10 minute walk from tabler to the academic buildings.

On one day my schedule has me from near the SAC to the tabler cafe, guess I gotta run? The classes are 10min apart.

Thanks for the reply, my friend tells me they have 2 sinks, a toilet and a shower in the bathrooms. How does garbage work? When do we throw them out/where?

You get 2 trash bins in your room. One for recyclable materials, and one for miscellaneous garbage. Every floor of your building has a gigantic garbage room. When the bins in your room are full, just empty them out in the garbage room.

I lived in Hand for a year. It was probably the best place I lived at Stony Brook (even though West Apartments is larger…Tabler is much more ‘lively’).

Anyone care to provide instructions as to how to get to the tabler quad from the lirr? I’m slow =[

There will probably be a bus waiting once your train arrives. If you are intent on walking it is 10 minutes headed west down Circle Road.

HERE IS A MAP: [Circle Rd & Gymnasium Rd, Brookhaven, NY 11733 to Tabler Quad - Google Maps](<a href=“Google Maps”>Google Maps)

Awesome thanks!

Just curious what happens if I arrive an hr earlier on move in day. >.<

You are going to have to wait for the quad office to open so you could get your key. It’s no big deal. Are you going by yourself? Or with your parents? And how much stuff are you carrying? If anything, you can go kill time by sitting at SAC.

I see, thanks! With my parent, my mom wanted to come. Guess we’ll sit at SAC for a bit. I didn’t bring too much since I’m planning to go back and forth on weekends to bring stuff, take back stuff, etc.

Taking the outer loop do I stop at tabler steps or roth/tabler? I’m thinking roth/tabler since I’ll be closer to Hand college. We check in and get our ID at our respective building/college right?

Either works. The top of the steps branches off, with one path going to the backdoor of Hand. Otherwise, the main path goes to the other side of the building.

Yes, your check-in will occur in the building (probably in the lounge).

All this talk is making me feel very nostalgic of Stony Brook…

hehe, I’m quite nervous and excited. Are you a graduate? Lets hope the hurricane doesn’t ruin the weekend.

Yes, graduated in 2010.

Welcome class of 2015. Enjoy the Brook. Btw, Go Seawolves!!! I Will be graduating soon. I live in H-Quad. Tabler is one of the better quads and has a good atmosphere which should be fun.

Hopefully Hurricane Irene doesn’t totally blow the Welcome Weekend for all of you.
