Taft current/former students, help wanted!

I'm looking for any current taft stude, alumni ( or anyone who feels they could help me). It has always been a dream of mine to go to Taft but I feel like that dream is slowly shattering. Last year I got ill, and although I was able to attend school the majority of the time, everything seemed to slowly slip. I missed 40 days of school, had to drop football, baseball, basketball, and all other ec's. I am in the recovery process now (doing homebound for 2 weeks), I am expected to be 100% by late december, at which point I will be able to get back into my usual activities although app. deadline is January. This being said what do I need to get into Taft. I feel like my resume will not be an accurate depiction of who I am.

I would appreciate if any one could pm me , or post here with any specifics. Should I explain what had happened in the last year in the interview/resume? Explain what I learned through all of it? I want to let my interviewer know if I got in I would be very involved in the community, music department, and sports there. Should I be very blunt about that?

Thanks, for any help. I know Taft is no Exeter but i feel it is truly the perfect school for me.

yeah...taft is much better than exeter no worries

ill message u

Explain what happened and how it made you a better person through all your sacrifice. Not in that cheesy of a way, but along those lines. They'll appreciate that you stuck with your dreams of Taft through those difficult times and that you did the best you could- show that you are DEDICATED, DETERMINED, and not DAFT. (My three D's that I just made up, heehee.)

cuz we all know people from taft aint daft :P

good luck in the app process! i think if you can explain your situation well enough they'll understand the missing school days, sports, etc, but i think in your interview, regardless of what you do (phone or campus or alumni), should include a bit of passion for taft because, well, if you can prove how passionate you are for a school even though (don't be offended btw, this is my journalism side speaking) you've faced hardships that could've made you lose hope of really anything but eating, sleeping, and breathing.

Thanks for all the help. I live in Connecticut so I am going to do an interview in person. When do applicants typically go for an interview?
