I’m going to take SAT 2 Bio and World History this Saturday and I don’t know how well I’m going to do on them- would doing badly REALLY hurt my chances? D:

Anyone? xD

You need physics/chemistry/biology and math II - one of the first three and Math II to apply to Caltech/MIT.

your GPA and SAT scores are stellar, however your ecs are a bit weak. I would recommend focusing on two of the things in that list and making them really strong for your essays. it seems like you are into art and science, so maybe volunteer at an elementary school and help with art, or start looking for a summer internship. once you have stronger ecs, then you are right there!

chance me back please(:

@texas: I took Math 2 and got an 800 (took Bio yesterday and might retake it in October along with Chem)

@Sarah: I’ve been doing a science research internship since last summer xD

Honestly, guitarkid49 is right, the ivies and their cousins are all crapshots, but your scores, gpa, and courseload are excellent. Your EC’s are great, but they don’t reallyyy stand out just compared to other ivy-hopefuls. Your internships/research background makes you quite the catch for these schools. I think you definitely have a better chance than most applicants at these schools, and you’re definitely in for UCLA & NYU. Good luck :)

Thank you
So my researching is paying off in the end xD

where are you applying early and what do you plan to major in?

Although people in Maryland may not think much of NIH since it is easier to get in from there, your experience is highly valued. Make sure you have your extra recommendation lined up from your advisor to these colleges. It is pretty much mandated in both MIT and Caltech and will probably get you into at least one or two Ivies.

Umm… maybe MIT and some other non-restrictive EA (I can’t decide which school I want to go to the most, so no ED/REA for me).

Yup, I already asked him for a rec!

You can apply to MIT and Caltech in EA. Chicago is a third top school with open EA.

There are a few other non-lottery schools with open EA if you want to apply to them.

Great test scores! I think you’re in NYU, UCLA, Carnegie Mellon, UMDCP, and NW. Everything else is a toss-up (As is for everyone else haha)

Thanks! I’m nervous/excited/dreading application season… I really want to get into Columbia… and MIT… and some other places xD

So… I did meh on my SAT2s… 720 on World History (I’m not really a history person, but I took the course so I wanted to try it) and 760 on Bio M. Should I retake Bio M/ how badly does the 720 impact me in relation to getting into the schools I listed…

Update: I did get second in a state competition, plus my GPA went up to around 3.93, 3.94 ish… anything? Dx

Bump… sorry I’m kinda nervous… x_x

yeah ull have a good chance at almost all of those schools. ull end up somewhere good anyways with those scores and GPA. self-studying chinese??? ahah but ur asian, so u definitely already know it.

Ahaha I can speak Chinese well… but I have the word recognition of a five year old. It’s actually terrible.

Common app came out today, desperate bumpp

Someone’s probably mentioned it, but dad’s Harvard med probably won’t help for… anything. xD

I think you should play up your internship as much as possible. Even without Siemens or Intel that kind of commitment looks really awesome, especially if you end up with your name in a paper or presentation. Otherwise, your grades and scores make you a qualified candidate for most of your schools it seems.

HYPSM/Columbia/UPenn/Brown are always a bit of a crapshoot, but you’re within range. Probably a solid match for NYU/CMU/Cornell. Clearly a shoo-in to UMCP, hehe.

Rock your essays, you’ll do fine.

Bumpity bumpity bump bump bump… desperately >_> college is scaring the crap out of me.
