I want to go into premed but don't know whether it would be more prudent to take Physics C, or AP Chem senior year. I will take AP Bio along with one of the other two sciences, but which of the two would be better?

well considering how physics ab is pretty much the physics for premed students, there’s really no point in going on to c, unless you want to wait to take chem in college and still want to take an ap science. otherwise, it’s smarter to place out of the generally huge intro chem classes [if the college you’re planning/hoping to go to accepts it]. plus the ap chem class would better prepare you for the future classes you do need for premed.

AP Chem is so much easier.

But anyway, I think it really depends on what you like. Also, I’ve heard that Phys C is really physics for engineers and that future med students will only need up through Phys B, or something like that.

(If I were making the decision, I’d take Chem.)

I’m taking both :)

In my opinion, take AP Chem for PreMed…

Physics C is an extension of Physics B. If you haven’t taken Physics B, both classes would be beneficial to take before college. In my opinion, I would rather have some background knowledge of physics before entering college, because it’s subject matter is harder conceptually. You can’t go wrong with either of these.

I’m taking Physics B this year as a junior.

If you want to go into premed, I would recommend taking chem

^Especially if you’ve already taken physics b

Why not take both? Or take one and self-study the other?

^Because taking both sucks.

I mean, not really. AP Chem is (again) quite easy. I guess taking Ap Phys C sucks, because it sucks. Unless you’re good at math or something. Then take both.

I don’t have room for both. If i did, i wud def take both, because I like both chem and physics. Based on the info so far, I will likely take chem, but to be sure, this thread will obv stay open for more comments.

AP Chem.

Basically AP Physics C probably won’t help you as much as Physics B would.

Last year, around this exact time of the year, I decided to take AP Bio and Physics C at the same time instead of AP Bio and AP Chem. I thought AP Physics would allow me to test out of intro physics in colleges, since I am planning on majoring in bio. Also, I chose physics over chem because the physics C teacher is one of the best teachers ever at my school :).
