i am an incoming frosh and i'm taking an english class equivalent to the C1 course. when i send my transcript in do i only get credit for it or does the grade also go onto my transcript and affect my GPA?

It won’t affect your GPA.

I am in the same situation. I took 3 college courses at my local CC my senior year and transfered them to UCSC. The only thing is I wonder what GE section they will count for (if they even do count). I took human sexuality, Intro. to Psych, and Sociology. While looking at the GE classes and requirements I saw that sociology and psych can fit into a couple of different sections for the GE’s. This is making it difficult for me to decide on classes because I don’t know if they will count (I’m pretty sure they do) and if they do for what section they will count for. So, I think I am just going to have to wait until orientation to find out. Plus, the 3 classes I took were for a semester and UCSC does quaters. So, I guess time will tell.

check assist.org?

Thanks so much all 3 count. But how that will affect me I don’t know still.

I have a question… Assist will only show me the 08-09 agreement with the CC I took classes at. Will the new GE requirements affect what classes I can count toward my GE? I was careful to only take classes that were UC transferable, but the new requirements are making me nervous.

You will have to go to your college advisor and ask them to contact the registrar. I don’t believe UCSC will post the GE equivalences yet because it usually takes them awhile to update their articulation agreements (more so when they completely change their GE structure).

Your classes will most likely transfer over though, it’s just a matter of what GE requirement they are now considered as. So technically you really don’t have to worry cause you will still get the credit!

well i called them and they said i have to update them that i am taking a classes cuz i didnt tell them i was. so i sent an email to myapplication@ucsc.edu with my name and student id and then i told them i was in the class no response yet though i think im just going to ask the advisor at orientation about it

im taking calculus1 at cc right now and its equivalent to math11a. if i pass calc1 and get credit from cc will i be placed in math11b or do they look at my score from the math placement and use that score to determine which math i can take?

If you pass Calc 1 at your CC, the math 11A requirement will automatically be fulfilled. So when you sign up for 11b, it will already show that you completed 11A and it will allow you to enroll in it.
